Kind of off topic but I never understood how some people go from posting 5,000 posts a year to quitting the forms all together.

^ That was my thought when I read through the thread. It's incredible that not a single poster from this thread is still active, despite the fact at one point they admitted this site to being a huge part of their life.

It's a shame we lost these guys, some great posters.

Life priorities, finding another forum, crappy staff leading to the user leaving. Many different reasons.

I think the most scary thing is a user passing away and nobody finding out. Had a known user that passed away on my forum, and the only reason people found out is because he was friends with a couple users on facebook.

A lot of the people that don't post here anymore are in their late 20's, early 30's. I'd say they have more important things in life than posting on a message board. This place will probably be a ghost town in the next 5 years or so, posting on a message board isn't really the thing to do for young people anymore since Twitter and Facebook happened.

It's different though. Facebook and Twitter is mass appeal. This is more of a sports community.

There's nothing worse than talking sports to people who aren't into it at all. When someone tells me that, it's like "Oh." followed by an awkward silence and forced topic transition.

Twitter or Facebook will never serve the same purpose for me as this site. For one you can't archive easily, second I can't randomly decide to be a total prick on facebook since I actually know those people. I can talk hoops here and it's a nice release at the same time.

The times I've been most inactive on this site were when I was surrounded by other rabid hoops heads frequently. Now that I'm starting to settle down back in Cali I might drop off a little, but doubtful.

There's people that are 45 to 55 years old still on message boards. If I ever get that age and I'm still 'active' on a message board.

I should be taking care of/spoiling my grand kids or some shit.

Honestly, if I don't have any friends to talk about basketball when I'm that age I might be on a message board too.
