Re: Workout Thread

In a good groove of working out as I'm finally feeling rather healthy for the first time in over a month. Beginning to play more basketball too as my broken finger and bud addiction first semester cut into that considerably. Bud is out and I'm healthy so I'm glad to be hooping quite a bit more.

Re: Workout Thread

Come on bball, bud addiction? I actually like getting stoned and playing. I don't always play well, but I've dominated while stoned. I get not wanting to smoke before, but smoking after strenuous exercise is actually good for you IMO. In fact, Arnold the Govna smokes after every workout. Helps him relax his muscles.

I was benching today, and I had to have this real goon of a kid spot me on my last set. I was doing 5-4-3-2-1, and I was attempting 190 on my last one. I went down, and I was struggling a bit. Chances are I wasn't going to get it, but instead of only helping as much as necessary the kid just yanked it up. He did that and instead of racking it I said **** it I'm doing another. I HATE lifting with people that do that, I've had a good friend ready to swing at me after I did that once. It's so frustrating.

Despite him, I actually had a good workout. Pretty wiped. But, there's basketball tonight so I'll be heading over there in an hour and a half-ish.

I love bud man, I really do, but I'm cutting it out except for rare occasions. I was lazy and unmotivated every single time after I toked and it's no coincidence that my grades dropped and my weight increased when I started smoking 7-10 times a week. Not to mention I don't have a steady income up here and buying alcohol, and bud was sucking my money supply pretty fast. I'm not done forever and am not against weed at all, but I have to do what I gotta do for the time being.

Agreed on those "goons", I used to hate that ****. I have not lifted seriously since Junior year and even then it was only semi-serious. Some kids I'm cool with asked me to start lifting with them so I'm going to start doing that 3 times a week, paired with cardio/basketball/abs that's a good mix of everything 7 days a week.

Gone 6 weeks (going to be 7 friday) without any pop/soda (whatever slang you use). I have gotten some cravings recently, but I have not given in.

Re: Workout Thread

I had a good workout yesterday, did my shoulders, triceps and back, but I'm really feeling the effects of that this morning haha, the shoulders are aching.

I want to go to the gym right now, but it's a 45 minute bike ride, and it's 9.38am. I don't know whether I can really be bothered. I'll wait a couple of hours and see where I'm at.

Re: Workout Thread

I just started Men's Fitness' "yearlong workout" yesterday, I was a bit skeptical at first, but my arms are sore for the first time in a long time, so I'm going to go on with it.

Re: Workout Thread

Been taking Kre-Alykalyn creatine (pills) for awhile now along with Muscle Milk protein. I've seen an increase in weight and strength with little to no increase in body fat. Granted it's only been 5 or so pounds, but it's certainly a fantastic beginning. I've taken other forms of creatine before, but this might be my favorite (or second favorite, I really like Anabolic Halo). It is supposedly pH balanced so you don't gain any water weight. I took SizeOn at one point and I shot up from 140-145 to 160-163. A lot of that was water weight though, and once I got off of it most of the weight fell off (so did the strength gains). This time it seems a lot more permanent. My abs are coming in quite nice too, especially considering I'm actually trying to bulk. I'm too poor to buy the amount of food it would take for me to actually see significant gains, also too poor to buy casein. Never tried it before, but I would love it. I always drink my milk before bed, but it's not on the same level.

Didn't lift today, but I did shoulders and back yesterday. I did go and shoot around for an hour today, and I'm about to go play some pickup games in the near future. Kind of contradicts what I want to achieve (getting bigger), but I love basketball. Not to mention I have intramural's coming up in a month or so. On top of that, I decided I'm going to play for the team next year when I re-enroll in school. They don't cut, this year they actually have like 20 kids. But they have like a 13-15 man "active roster" that is eligible to play. I'm doubting I'll make that at first, but at worst it'll help me improve my game. It's going to be difficult overcoming the fact I didn't play high school ball anywhere, but truth be told I'm as good as most of those guys right now. Having a coaches to help me with my game is only going to make me better.

Re: Workout Thread

Got a question for you guys,
My routine is mostly cardio. I run two-three miles every day (unless it is raining hard or under 35 degrees), and once a week, I run five-six miles. In addition to running, I will throw in a game of full court basketball, or soccer when it gets warm again, every now and again. I started this routine around September 2009, and for the most part I've gotten the results I wanted, but now I am looking to get more toned in my chest/stomach area. I am not looking to put on any weight. What else should I be doing?

Re: Workout Thread

Hit the weights.

If you aren't a fan, or don't have access to a gym, just do pushups, pullups, and situps every day. After your runs, maybe.

Feel free to start a pretty serious weight lifting routine. With the amount you are running you won't gain a pound, but you will get a lot more toned. Just keep doing everything the same as you are now (including eating) but add in weightlifting.

How much to eat is something I am always unsure on. I am super careful not to over eat, but I am hearing that is bad that you need to eat. Usually I have 1 or sometimes 2 meals a day, while eating fresh fruit and small snacks during the day

That's awesome man, good luck! I have thought about transferring to a D3 school 10-15 minutes from home and walking on, but I'm enjoying my time at Central a little too much. I may after next year because I miss ball so much, but I'm not for sure yet.

Re: Workout Thread

I'm doing basically all cardio for the next couple of weeks, looking to cut down on the pounds before I start putting on some serious muscle, but it's just kind of adding to my fat at the moment, plus I'm not at good fitness levels.

Today I ran for an hour on the treadmill, and ran 8.75km. Proud of myself, even if it is only a small step, it was brilliant for me.

Usually I can't be bothered, but it seemed like I was really up for it today, and if I put my mind to it then I can actually do well.

Re: Workout Thread

^ 8.75 km is really good. I do 10 km once a week, it's a great workout, but I am not to the point where I can do it every day [I try to run abt 5 km daily]. My legs feel really tired afterward for like half a day when I run 10+ km. [also I run outdoors, not on a treadmill, don't know how that is affecting the length of my runs]
