Re: Workout Thread

Day 3 since I made my resolution... Did chest & tri's on Sunday and just finished a light shoulders, back, and ab workout. I also got in a acpl games of pick-up b4 they shut the courts down for Volleyball... Solid workout. I use to run on tredmill like you FX, but I find that so boring that I cant do it more than 15-20 mins... My gym has usually has 3-4 open courts, so playing ball is so much better.

Tomorrow I'm wanna do legs, bi's, and prolly some cable lifts or oblique excersizes... It's tough to do cardio & legs on the same day, so I might skip out on it. I know that's a cop out tho, and I could just do legs after cardio but I dont want to put myself in that position, lol.

How much you eat doesn't matter, it's the nutrition you're getting and the frequency you eat that matters. It all depends on what you're trying to do. If you are trying to bulk up then eat a ton of calories throughout the day, if you are trying to slim down then cut calories at every meal. If you are doing a ton of cardio, but want to stay where you are, make sure you eat extra calories to make up for the extra calories you burn. You can find a lot of good articles on mensfitness.com and menshealth.com

I've taken other forms of creatine before, but this might be my favorite (or second favorite, I really like Anabolic Halo). It is supposedly pH balanced so you don't gain any water weight. I took SizeOn at one point and I shot up from 140-145 to 160-163. A lot of that was water weight though, and once I got off of it most of the weight fell off (so did the strength gains). This time it seems a lot more permanent. My abs are coming in quite nice too, especially considering I'm actually trying to bulk. I'm too poor to buy the amount of food it would take for me to actually see significant gains, also too poor to buy casein. Never tried it before, but I would love it. I always drink my milk before bed, but it's not on the same level.

Didn't lift today, but I did shoulders and back yesterday. I did go and shoot around for an hour today, and I'm about to go play some pickup games in the near future. Kind of contradicts what I want to achieve (getting bigger), but I love basketball. Not to mention I have intramural's coming up in a month or so. On top of that, I decided I'm going to play for the team next year when I re-enroll in school. They don't cut, this year they actually have like 20 kids. But they have like a 13-15 man "active roster" that is eligible to play. I'm doubting I'll make that at first, but at worst it'll help me improve my game. It's going to be difficult overcoming the fact I didn't play high school ball anywhere, but truth be told I'm as good as most of those guys right now. Having a coaches to help me with my game is only going to make me better.

Sizeon really didn't help me put on a lot of weight for whatever reason. I've been taking No-Xplode lately and it's been shooting my numbers up across the board though, I'd definiatly reccomend it to anyone.

Re: Workout Thread

I've been working out pretty religously for the last six months or so. Pecs, biceps, and triceps one day and back/legs the next. I've definiatly seen signifigant results.

The problem with weight gainers is that once you stop using them you lose that extra weight (plus it's normally expensive). I am having trouble getting bigger because I have a fast metabolism and I don't have a big enough appetite. And I have heard the same about no-xplode but it is pretty expensive.

Just a tip, try mixing up your exercises a bit to confuse your muscles. Once they get used to an exercise it is harder to get bigger. If you mix it up then the muscle isn't expecting it and works overtime.

The deal I got was less then a dollar a serving so I thought it was relatively reasonable considering the results.

And thanks, I'll try to switch it up.

Good stuff on keeping it up so far.

I have biked 8 miles and done abs the past two days. Tomorrow I will probably go play basketball once or twice and lift.

Re: Workout Thread

I'm going to try and bump it up by 0.25 of a kilometre today, and have a 9km run. Then I'll go for a smaller, higher intensity run on Thursday, as I have football on Friday.

I need to find some people who play basketball pretty regularly. Our school have 1 or 2 games per year, and no practice. In the 1 basketball game I played this year, it was probably the best workout I've had in a long time.

Is whey protein worth taking before/after gym if I'm just running? Will it give me any purpose?

^ Do you run on an incline? That **** is hard at first, but after you finish a full sprint up a hill it feels so good.

Re: Workout Thread

Nope I go flat. I might try it though.

I only did 20 minutes today, but also did 3.5km in that 20 minutes. I was going at a pretty high tempo for the whole things, doing some interval runs. Was good.

Re: Workout Thread

Is it normal to not gain any weight after sitting around the house for 5 days, consuming soda and junk food all the time and not doing any exercise?

Yeah, Id say that's pretty normal... Seems like i'm always between 145-155 regardless of what I do. If im on a routine and lifting weights everyday or if I'm just lazy and sit around the house for like a month (or more), my weight really doesn't change... If anything I seem to lose weight when I stop working out, not gain..

Only thing for me I dont like is losing the muscle definition, and the stamina... I'm tryna get that back but it's a struggle. Just ran 3 games of pick-up tonight and my stamina was horrific... Part of it was prolly the pace we were playing @, but damn, my calfs and abs were burnin after the 2nd game for some reason. I really need to step it up. I think part of my problem with the weight gain tho is that I do too much cardio when I workout, but playin ball is too much fun 4 me give up. I'm gonna try to step up my leg & ab workouts going forward tho, and hopefully that will help me out.

Re: Workout Thread

What time of the day do you guys work out? This is becoming more of a problem for me. I have finally been increasing the amount of work I do (usually around late morning before lunch), but I am now exhausted afterwards. I guess I could do it in late afternoon.

Re: Workout Thread

Gym's always packed the most around 5 pm. 3-6, 4-8 pm is generally the time if I go. I've heard it's better to run on an empty stomach for weight loss, but you might not have the energy to lift. I' go with a light lunch if I go gym in the afternoon.

Whey protein is good to take right before and right after a workout. It will help with muscle recovery and growth.
