Workout Thread
Don't mean to take away from JMK's thread in the exercise forum (since it prompted this one and is motivating me to start this program), but I need to make sure I see this as motivation all over so I won't slack in my workout, dieting.
I'm currently 5'9" 166 on December 19th, 2009. The goal is to get down to 145 by March 6th, which is when I leave for Panama City Beach for spring break. I'm just using this goal as a starter for the foundation as my hope is to slim down and get a solid base of me being in-shape, and then build from there in terms of muscle and being in-shape. This is a journal of sorts. I will post what i did everyday, how much pop I drank, if I toked or consumed alcohol, and what I did to workout. Feel free to interject with advice or to discuss what you do to workout or your goals in working out. Starting in one hour I will be playing two hours of pickup basketball. Not a workout by any stetch, but it's physical activity and that's a start. |

Re: Workout Thread
So today went pretty well. Played 2 hours of pickup ball worked up a good sweat there. Did AB Ripper P90X this evening and worked up a pretty good sweat doing that (this workout is quite a challenge I recommend it to anyone). Had one glass of pop as my mom bought it with my subway so I drank it. Didn't toke either. Overall I think it's a good start.

Re: Workout Thread
It's a 17 minute workout strictly for your Ab's. It's killer, but it's proven to be very effective so I figured I would give it a shot. There's torrents of it out there if you wanted to look into it.

Re: Workout Thread
I'll try it out then..I'm actually currently looking for some flexibility exercises too, seeing as I'm probably one of the most unflexible guys you are likely to find. If you know of any of them, give me a shout.

Re: Workout Thread
Did Abripper again with 5 miles on the bike, was a pretty good little workout. Plan to lift and bike again tomorrow, and I'm also going to play hockey with some friends just for fun so that will be an experience.
Had zero pop today, and zero junk. Couple glasses of milk, and a bunch of water went down pretty good. Need some flavor so I may try some juices or something tomorrow. Had lasagna, a tuna fish sandwich, and a bowl of cereal. Pretty solid day overall. |

Re: Workout Thread
Went Ice Skating and it was an experience. Didn't fall though and got a decent sweat going so can't complain. Biked another 5 miles, and lifted today. Did Bench, Squat, and Calf Raises while finishing with a set of leg lifts that I remember learning at a basketball camp way back when that were killer. No pop for the 2nd day in a row, and have not toked since Friday. Good start I must say.
Up at 6 to play pickup basketball, then I might go for a run outside as long as it does not snow overnight. Will also resume P90X Ab workout. As I figure 2 days on, 1 day off (with assorted ab exercises of my choice) would be best. |

Re: Workout Thread
Your first problem is pop...cause you call it 'pop'! S-O-D-A!!!
If you're looking to cut weight, it's all about moderation with your food. Last year I had the Freshmen Fifteen (and then some), I ended the year around 186 and now I'm at 167. I'm working out a lot, mainly focusing on adding muscle. I've put on a decent amount, seeing I've only been really lifting since September. I'm lucky to know some kids on the football team so I do their workout from time-to-time...and it's pretty brutal, but worth it. If you want to add muscle, look into getting protein of some form for after workouts.

Re: Workout Thread
What you pretty much need is eating little and often, with the right things. Instead of snacking with a big chocolate bar or bag of crisps..which I usually do, swap it out for an apple or a couple of oranges.

Re: Workout Thread
Cardio and muscular exercises for me today, I missed out on a session yesterday due to the gym being full and just had nothing free on muscular, so went for a run. So today doing some work on the triceps, back, and shoulders, then just going to do a 15 minute or so cardio session to finish up.
I hate cycling in the gym, because the machine seems so awkward, the pedals are so different to where my real bicycle's pedals are. |
