You are slowly but surely turning into the grumpy old man that yells at kids to get off his lawn.

I'm rather surprised by the reactions so far. Everyone here's like, "Wow there's someone I see that needs help. I'm going to run over there and help immediately!" Which is the opposite of "That person is in trouble, and I have no desire to involve myself in his troubles." There's probably more people in the latter category, but I only ever hear from people in the former. I mean, if I don't know you, I don't care if you die a horrible death. I'd leave before the cops show up. If this disturbs you, tell me how you feel.

Its the view of a self important child. You're too busy looking to get back to your low rent apartment, or parents basement to help anyone. You don't care what old boring adults think.

Re: Teen tweets photo of dying man, doesn't call 911
You're right to an extent.
Helping 'anyone' is the focus here. Helping your friends and family is one thing, getting involved with a stranger's troubles is a another. You owe it to yourself in the former, but not in the latter. The latter brings trouble and is adverse to self convenience and preservation. It's adding more shit to your own shit, which is already quite substantial in size. As the far as the 'child' comment, you're wrong. If it's a comment about maturity, then you'd be saying most people in the world are immature. It's not the right term.

Re: Teen tweets photo of dying man, doesn't call 911
Most people are immature.
You see helping people hurts you, but it teaches you how to be a man. Not "i have a kid, a job, and a wife so that makes me a man." Because it doesn't. If you can't take ownership of your community and be willing to effect change in it, you're still a child. At least that's my view on it. Yes, most adults are still emotionally children.

Re: Teen tweets photo of dying man, doesn't call 911
I never understood why we needed laws like this until I read Chan's response. Apparently there are more assholes in our world than I imagined.
I mean if you see someone who needs help calling for help is the least you can do. If the guy dies wouldn't you feel bad that perhaps you could've saved his life by calling an ambulance? I can sort of understand people who pause due to the fear of getting scammed(i.e. fake accidents) but there are no risks involved when you call for help. |

Re: Teen tweets photo of dying man, doesn't call 911
It's life in large cities. No one owes anybody anything. You'll never be more alone than you are in a larger city. A few of my friends who are from small towns lament this topic often. All of these small businesses nickel and dime you because there are a million other customers so they can run a business like that. In a small town you'll be out of business within a few months if you pulled stuff like that.

Imagine if nobody noticed that guy next to Chan's shower. Chan would've left that guy there and just moved on with his day.
