The baseball program at my high school is probably the best in the state of Michigan. Small school (probably 400 kids), but they regularly beat Class A/Division 1 (big school) teams soundly. It has fallen off recently but we won 3 state titles from 2000-2003 and lost in the finals the year we didn't win if I remember correctly. We have 7-8 state titles, like 14 state title appearances. We have won the league title close to 25-30 years running, same with districts. Our coach has 1,200 ish wins. Football team made the state championship game my junior year, but generally we are not that great. Basketball has been solid, but the quality of athletes has deteriorated and the coaching is amongst the worst anywhere (know from experience). |

Re: HS alma mater sports success?
We've had two NBA players drafted this century, Derozen and my former teammate Jeff Trepagnier.

Re: HS alma mater sports success?
Our basketball team is a historic power in the second division. The only time we sucked was my 4 years and a couple years after. I blame my friends who played on the team, one of whom was a flagrant foul waiting to happen every time he got on the court. Think we lost the state title last year, and have been there a few times recently. And then we won a couple when I was in middle school. Only a couple mid-major college players though, and no one who was good at that level.

Re: HS alma mater sports success?
Jeff Trepagnier played in the NBA? Does he know that?

Re: HS alma mater sports success?
Ha, I maintain he could of been a good roleplayer. On USC he was a better player than Scalabrine. We were the starting forwards and built almost exactly the same... we ran a full court press all game long and I think it stunted his development. He never became a good ball handler or a on ball defender. But he could shoot and could jump out the ****ing gym.
Really the difference between most rotation players and overseas is a lot of politics, networking and luck... assuming work ethic and attitude is equal. Reason why Anthony Parker goes to Turkey or wherever after one year in the league and doesn't come back for a decade. We never were major threats though... afterall we did play in the greater LA area.... it's not like Wisconsin.

You guys probably could have dominated the American Alberta. All those cheddar cheese & cherry smoked bacon bear claws make Wisconsins slow and terrible leapers. I'm pretty sure that Jared Sullinger spent considerable time there as a kid.
