Another gaming tragedy: 21-year-old dies after 40-hour marathon

A 21-year-old man in Guangxi, China, died after playing an unnamed online game (probably an MMORPG) for 40 hours. Mr. Jun began his gaming session after his shift at a karaoke center at 2AM on Christmas. Other than taking short breaks to eat and to go to the bathroom, he spent the rest of the time on the game itself. Unexpectedly, the man collapsed and died, having seemingly gamed himself to death.

That was the picture in the article, btw. I have no idea if it has anything to do with the game he was playing.

This story is 10x better if his character died at the same time.

In all honesty, this stuff doesn't bother me. Step away from the ****ing computer and take a break. Or die. I don't really care either way.

Well, you figure if he worked a full shift at his job prior to starting he was probably awake for an additional 10 to 16 hours before starting the marathon. I think it has more to do with the human body not being designed to do anything for two and a half days straight, to say nothing of the chemicals or drugs that may have been used to fuel that binge. I doubt there's a video game out there that triggers death in certain people.

Kids these days. When I was 19 a friend and I did a three day binge of drinking and touring Montreal's strip clubs and then heading back down south to home to sleep it off. By best estimates we made it 70 straight hours awake.

Its like you said, either drugs or the body just giving out due to exhaustion. I've been up 2 days straight before due to insomnia, but that's with periods of at least resting my eyes and attempting to sleep for a few hours at a time which gives you a little bit of a recharge.

This has got to be one of the worst ways to go.

I mean even the sandy hook shooter gets some pity, people figured he was disturbed and didn't get help... some blame the pills he was on.

This? Nobody probably knew him but his computer, and he wasn't disturbed, just had literally nothing better to do with his life.

There's lots of people like that, especially in this day and age.

The Sandy Hook guy was a crazy piece of shit who should rot in hell. This dude is just a loner with little to no real life friends. Not comparable.
