BTW, I believe the main reason ads were brought about was to help pay for the site. More bandwidth = more $$$ to pay to keep the site up.
You also need to take into account the growth of the site. At one point back then, having around 50 registered posters was a big deal.

Remember folks, this site costs hundreds of dollars a month in server costs to keep online. The fact that we have limited our income sources to date to advertisers who don't require pop-ups -- well, lets just say its a labor of love.

You caught what I was trying to say, too. I'd definitely agree with you and say my posts back then were pretty immature as well, but I guess that's something that comes with young age.

The growth of the site is still going on, so that results in more bandwidth used, which utlimately results in more $$$ needed to keep the site up. Nowadays, having around at least 100 users on during the prime of the day is a big deal.

Actually, we pretty typically have 100+ registered members and 100+ registered guests on at one time, except in the middle of the night.
Some of the long-time posters here should be supporting members. Mine expires in October, but I will be re-upping pretty soon, because I don't want this site to disappear.
