his site is selling autographed copies of 10,000 Days with Grey's sig. They're 30 bucks with limited stock.

That dude is thanking his lucky stars for Tool. His artwork is great but exposure for an artist is tough. Nothing like piggy-backing the best band of our generation.

I still think he would still make his money but his art is getting out to other outlets though that he wouldn't. Not sure how much of a difference it would be though.

I have a feeling Tool will be remembered like a band from the 70's or so forth. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I just think they're ahead of their time right now to recognize some of the things they are. I don't think they're just this good because nothing else is out there though. They were good when everything else was out there was in mid 90's. They withstood it all but kept it underground while managing to sell albums and still are.

I personally think they are the Pink Floyd of this generation and could care less what anyone else thinks. It is amazing the sales and following they have with very little marketing behind them. Unfortunately, as with happens with many bands (and even athletes), as the popularity grows the haters begin to come out of the woodwork.

Yeah, that and they rarely put their face out there but still sell a big fair amount with not much advertisment. Reminds me, I have this interview where Maynard says, "the cult of the personality is very unfortunate. It puffs up the ego and then the music suffers. Everything we've achieved has been due to word-of-mouth. That's what makes us dangerous." Thought that summed them up perfectly.

I thought this was rather strange but interesting. In the same interview he says, "I had a friend who had a nanny, when all the kids grew up, she slipped into a catatonic state. She'd steal your shoes and keep mashed potatoes her drawer. Then as soon one of the girls had a baby, she came out of it. She had something to live for. And the moral of the story appiled to Tool, "what's the point of living if you don't extend yourself?" You need stress and tention to stay alive.

That quote in the sentence before last kinda always stood out to me because I've always tried to help others and give advice even long before I heard it.

It is amazing that with 5 albums I can listen to them all straight thru (at work) and there are only two songs (segues excluded) I even consider skipping ... Intension and occasionally Pu**** (just to get to Aenema quicker). There aren't any other bands I can even come close to saying that for.
How could you skip Pu****? That's one of my favorite songs by Tool and my second favorite off of Aenima next to Third Eye.

For me, it's between Pu**** (Ænima version) and The Grudge. It changes like night and day.

I dunno ... like I said, one of my favorites is Aenema so sometimes I skip it to get there.

I just heard the alternate version of Pu**** from Salival and ****ing love it though.

I have to say it has been changing constantly lately. As of today my favorite songs to listen to are The Patient, Lateralus, and Jambi. And the Salival version of Pu****.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

Funny (not really) story. One of my friends went to the Philly show. I visited him at work a couple days before the show. He said he believed it was going to be a life changing experience. Apparently, no one has seen or heard of him since the show. He's disappeared.

Man you're getting all this new stuff, not fair lol. That version of Pu**** is overrated to me though. It's good but I just LOVE middle eastern flavored Ænima one, It's just amazing.

have you heard all of Salival? Tool's studio version of Zepplin's No Quarter is amazing. Then there's the secret song Maynard's Dick. The live Third Eye has excerpt from Timothy Leary, the LSD guy. I like that in the beginning over Bill Hicks excerpts. If you haven't already make sure you get the live ones that are from Salival, sound quality is awesome. I'd say get Salival but they only printed up 150,000 and you can't find it anywhere. None has been scheduled to be printed. I'm sure you heard about all of this or heard some of the songs, so I probably wasted my time haha.

Eh, not really. For some reason no one is taking it very seriously (and I don't think anyone has really gone out of their way to look for him). Hard to explain. Just odd circumstances, I guess.
