after first listen. I thought wow..but didn't know if it was a good one till 2nd listen. But goddamn. It's like most uncommericial/moody record I have ever heard. It's like they're trying your patience with it or wanted to throw something at you that you'd least expect but you know Tool does want they want and doesn't plan that.

Vicarious is in your face and not like anything on the record but it fits. Jambi starts out in your face then comes back down and hits you again lol. Wings for Marie/10,000 Days just sooo ****ing powerful. it's all very sad too. This like echoed by many from what I've seen. For me, it also could be my favorite Tool song of all time eventually. The Pot, at first, I was like wtf lol. Maynard singing acapulco was something new. Then I heard it again and it's a bad *** song. And I want to know who thought of Lipan Conjuring lol. Lost Keys was annoying in the beginning with that sound like they were sitting next to the speaker with their guitar/bass. And SERIOUSLY, Rosetta Stoned, is the most chaotic/twisted/weird song I have EVER heard. It's really good though. Intension seems to dive into the D/R/T mode a lil. Right In Two seems to do so as well a lil then picks up in your face. Viginiti Tres was weirdness.

It's weird, everything seemed better 2nd time I listened to it more so than the first. Maybe the expectations and thoughts of others kinda made me get thrown off at first by it all for some reason. So, far I really like it though. Seems like a progression or they picked up where they left off like in a way with Disp/reflection/triad but with heavy moments and a lot of build up. But it fits though. Overall the record takes you on this trip it seems.

It's funny how Tool albums work on you. After the first couple listens I thought it was good but not great. But after a week of digesting I now love the album and I think it is pretty much on par with their previous works and that is no slight considering how great Aenema and Lateralus were.

10,000 Days is an incredibly deep song ... when you really listen to it and let yourself absord the meaning and get into Maynard's emotion in that song it is amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if it could bring some people to tears.

The only song I haven't gotten ahold of is Intension but so far I love Vicarious, Jambi, The Pot, 10,000 Days, and Rosetta Stoned. And I think right now my favorite song on the album has become Right In Two.

IMO this band is easily the best rock band in the business with each of the guys in the band being at the top of their craft. An amazing combination of talents. And there are different points throughout the record where each guy shines. And overall I think the drumming on this album is pretty vicious.

Any rock fan who writes this album off to quickly will be sorry. In fact, since i've been listening to Tool so much lately it has kind of ruined listened to other rock lately. Simply, nothing else really stacks up.

Yeah, definitely. People shouldn't form a total opinion on a Tool record till they give it a chance for a while. And if they don't like then that's their problem . It took a yr or so for me to get hooked on Ænima back in '97 when I first heard it. Undertow didn't even hit me right away either. Lateralus though was instant for some reason. But yeah, this album certainly ranks up there with these. It's too premature to say if it's better than them. But it's up there. I've always thought they progressed with each record though.

Exactly on 10,000 Days. Wings for Marie as well. It hit me hard. Just made me think about the power of his words and where he was coming from. This was first thing he's done since she passed (besides puscifer songs). I get ****ing chills during the part "Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough... all the way to...Give my wings." That sequence is so. amazing. And yeah, I've actually read that people have cried from the song.

Yeah, kinda same thing with me on Intension. I like it but I've only listened to it 3 times. I've listened to others same too but it just hasn't reached out so, to speak. Right In Two is a bad *** song. The Pot, I've had stuck in my head for awhile. Just some really great songs. I like how Jambi and Right In Two are epics in a way but they still have a rock n roll edge to them in a way. Hard to explain. That's a great point about how the album has it moments where each stand out. Although, it feels like there's a little less Danny in it though.

I agree, they are the best. And Tool certainly hasn't lost it. In a world of where everything sounds the same and says the same. It's also one reason why it's hard to get into new things. And while older bands who are established break up or can't create something on par with old record like NIN last yr which I liked but it lacked something.. Tool continues to push things further somehow.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

You might have been able to tell that there's a backward message near the beginning of "Intension". If you play it in reverse, at about 5:57 Maynard whispers, quite clearly, "Work hard. Stay in school. Listen to your mother. Your father is right." twice.

I'm hoping to see them sometime but they aren't coming anywhere close to Florida in their pre-Euro tour. Hopefully they will once they get back. I wish I had the opportunity to go to Coachella.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

I'm personally alittle dissapointed in the CD thusfar. I'm still hoping this CD is fake, and these are the reasons I have hope.

1)http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...V53949761_.jpg

Look at the letters looks more like "FOOL"

2)http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...eddocument.jpg

I got this e-mailed from a friend.. take it for what it's worth. "myluciddesign????"

3)http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/9240/tool21wd.gif

just read that

4)http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...q=tool&pl=true

Video was taken from the lateralus tour....listen to the whole thing somewhere through it u'll hear "wings for marie"

5)http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...nied/tool4.jpg

this is apparently what the real "10,000" days (or whatever it's really called) album looks like a double CD to me.

Anyway who knows i'll guess will have to wait and see. If theres one band in the music industry who could have pulled something like this off it would be tool.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

spending a lil too much time at toolnavy.com huh?

no one believed it when title of 10,000 days was announced, then track titles, vicarious comes out, and whole thing leaks, people still don't. amazing.

that email from the friend about that other track listing up there was admitted by the person who posted it at toolnavy and was proved to be false so.

never been to toolnavy.com until right now, and the site sucks! thanks

Anyway i've been a tool fan for a very long time. I've gave this album many listens and with the exceptions of Vicarious, Jambi, Right In Two and the Pot it's a very weak CD.

I'm hoping it's a fake.

Cheers.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

..

If it is fake then I'd hate to hear the real thing. It might melt my brain.

Seriously, I can't believe people still think it is fake. First of all, for a fake it is one hell of an album. And if it was fake it would be one of the best and most complex hoaxes I've ever heard of.

I guess I can understand some people might not like it but I really can't imagine anyone really thinking it is a "weak" CD, especially compared with the other music out there. I gave it another full listen today and again liked it even more.

the site is all right. too many people try to make connections that aren't there. they overanalyze things. and there are also quite a bit of morons there too.

I love the album so far. I think it ranks up there with older stuff. It'll be awhile before I can say if its better or not. But I wouldn't give up on it just yet. it may take yrs before you apperciate it.

trust me, it's not a fake, and there is no double album. some places online are selling import 10,000 days cds for like 26 bucks and theyre only a lot cuz its imported. and that cd case looks just to fit one.

yeah, if this is fake. The real thing may be the best CD thing ever lol. there is no way it is. there's too much work done on this album. it's not half assed.

blair was being sarcastic on a newsletter about a decoy album and people took that and ran with it.

Comparing other music out there and previous TOOL CD's are 2 totally diffrent things. After a solid 10 listens of this album, within the last 4 days this IMO ranks as the worst CD this band has came out with. With each prevoius tool release a new and diffrent sound was created transforming them into one of the most creative and complex bands of the modern day rock era . This latest CD sounds very similar to lateralus and has been a letdown to any of the previous CD's this band has created.

with that said i'm still hoping this CD might grow on me alittle more because waiting 5 years for this mediocore album which hasen't even been released yet would be a major dissapoinment.

I guess it is just a matter of taste. My favorite is Aenima but right now I would put 10,000 Days on par with Lateralus and above Undertow.

When I first listened to the songs I was a little disappointed because I was looking for quick satisfaction. But some of the songs like 10,000 Days itself you really have to let yourself soak it in.

I don't know ... I was disappointed at first but now I removed Lipan Conjuring and Viginti Tres from the playlist and I can listen through the whole thing and really enjoy it. Still the only song that really doesn't do it for me is Intension.

It is amazing how much time some people are putting into trying to prove these hoax theories. I've been reading around on toolnavy for a bit. There are a lot of hints or rumors pointing to a double-CD ... I guess if there is something going on it wouldn't be a complete hoax but maybe a double-CD with another set of songs. But I really doubt it.
