lol .. no, but I can imagine. Everyone is trying to get into those shows before they go to Europe. I don't think the following in this area is as strong as other places so hopefully it won't be so bad assuming they come somewhere in Florida. But my thinking is that this might be the last time they tour so I'm going when I get a chance even if it costs me.

I don't hear that. It's got it's soft moments/hard moments but Adam, Justin and Danny sound nothing like Josh Freese, whoever decides to do guitar/bass in Paz, Troy or Jerodie, and Billy Howerdel. It's still got it's unmistakable "Tool sound." Sounds more as if it they picked up where D/R/T left off in a way with those softer spacious moments, and just heavier spots. Well, to me anyway. Let me go deeper, as right now I am up to Intension. The problem many people have with APC is that they are expecting that explosion in the music. That's why you see many Tool fans who aren't big APC fans. With me, I understand what APC is and I love APC. I don't expect that explosion. I take the band for what it is. I do, though, expect that explosion with Tool. It's one of their trademarks. Right now, though, I'm on song 9 of 11 and I haven't heard it at all. It's hard not to feel disappointed.

Ah ok. Intension is probably the worst song on it. It's not a bad song. I just can't get into it right now. What'd you think of Rosetta Stoned? Yeah, that's true about APC/TOOL. And I see what you mean about explosion though. I didn't expect explosion either with APC. But yeah, this record does lack that as it did in others but through the build up, it has it's heavier moments. It's not as nearly as heavy than what people made it out to be on those early reviews and those interviews with Tool saying it is. Maybe turned up loud at the listening parties it is or live it's heavier? I was actually disappointed on first listen, then 2nd listen everything hit me alot better. I think expectations and opinions of others threw me off on first time. But I wouldn't like try to force it like others, by constantly listening to it and hoping you like it. It'll happen if it does. |

I just got to Rosetta Stoned and haven't been overly impressed so far. 10,000 Days (the song) in particular kept feeling like it was building up to something crazy, and it was a great buildup.... only the crazy never came. That's basically been the album so far, great buildup, with less than the expected payoff. I don't think there has been a "catchy" moment of the album yet, which while not really being what Tool is about, has always been very present in their albums. |

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days
..
The packaging is crazy good. If there is an award for album packaging this one probably wins hands down. It took me a couple minutes to get my eyes to realize what was going on but now I can see all the 3D images no problem. Very, very cool stuff. My favorite is the dude with the pins sticking out of him. I was disappointed in the album at first but I really like it now. Vicarious, Jambi, 10,000 Days, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, and Right In Two are all very good to me. Intension still hasn't hit me. Even after being initially disappointed, for me Aenema is their best but to me I think Lateralus = 10,000 Days. To me it doesn't really sound like APC at all except that it is a little laid back ... it is much more Lateralus than APC. Vicarious is a little more on the Aenema side. And in relation to other rock bands in the biz ... there isn't anyone close IMO.

Nah ... I don't think so. But preferences in regards to Tool always seem to be all over the place. Aenema is definitely my favorite (right now) because it is much harder hitting but I like Lateralus about the same as 10,000 Days right now. Although I think I need to switch for a while because i've listened to 10,000 Days so many times over the last couple weeks.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days
I still think for me it's way too early to rank this album. But I love it so far. Still has it's memorable moments like older albums. I've always felt like they got better with each release with Lateralus as the best. This is also minus Salival. I don't count it as an official album. We'll see where this stacks up eventually. I can't wait for the fall. Get to see them on tour again. I want to hear these songs live.
And yeah, the sound is much better quality than the leak, that is for sure. But good thing, I broke the burned CD and deleted it for the whole week and 2 days so, I can keep it fresh. I forgot mention, that packaging is bad ***. I didn't notice the 3D at first till I looked at it again after getting home. Was wondering what the hell the point was. lol I love that picture of the body with the swirl of fire. But I wonder what else can they come up with? haha. |

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days
I'd also like to point out I didn't like Lateralus very much when it came out either because it didn't live up to Aenima.
I still prefer Aenima, but every time I listen to Lateralus I like it more. Maybe this album will be the same way. |
