I think maybe 1 more great song (maybe replace Intension) and I'd hold 10,000 Days nearly at the Aenima level.

But I need to start listening to some other stuff ... I've been listening to too damned much Tool lately.
Boo!

Lateralus > 10,000 Days = Aenima > Opiate > Undertow!

That's final, too, because my taste in music is the objective ruler! :curse:

I do remember reading that Maynard said the tracklisting was different a month ago but that might have been, if I remember, from a fake Maynard interview posted. But I wouldn't doubt that answer anyway. A lot of people comment that Viginti Tres sounds somewhat like wings flapping and may be a respresentation of Judith Marie's ascension into Heaven or wherever she is headed.

I don't put much salt into a lot of these theories people come up with but I still don't think it is coincidence that VT + Wings for Marie = 10,000 Days time-wise.

For a group that says "over thinking, over analayzing seperates the body from the mind" they sure do hide a lot of **** in their music. Thankfully I just let all the die-hards find those things and then I just read about them.

It's actually Lateralus with the syallables haha. Which makes even more sense with the theme. But I actually ripped the tracks and listened to them straight, and for the most part they flow into one another very well. I didn't get to finish all the way through but it feels like something new though.

Not sure if it was fake because people who went to those listening parties overseas said they heard it differently, although the andy king review matches up well. I don't know. Interesting about Viginiti Tres and Judith's ascension. That weird voice creeps me out. "The system." Also reminds me when you mentioned 23 and such. I'm sure you heard this before not sure if I've seen it, but the talk about dividing and cutting right into two kinda made me think about like 46 and 2 and him implying the devolution of humans. Cutting it right in half.

From what I gather from interviews, they say they don't plan how long a song is, they just jam till it feels right or it just ends. Which makes me think it wasn't done on purpose, the adding of the 2 songs = 10,000 days.

lol that is so true but I think they just mean in life about situations and it also could apply to the wild cracked out weird thoeries. He would rather people go out and search for what these things, instead of him spilling it all but not go too far. I maintain what they mean from what I've gathered with what he's said, and how I push it further, as well as what it could mean to me in a certain situation though.

lol, yeah I almost went to that show. My family was vacationing in NY but before the tickets sold out in like 5 mins. I bought the bootleg of it though haha.

But this one quality wise is awesome as hell. I would've embedded it here but they didn't have the code there. But it's an amazing perfomance. Only place I can find it too.

Actually, listening a lot to Lateralus lately I may change my opinion, although it has been changing quite frequently lately. I think although it is close right now I would say Aenima > Lateralus > 10,000 Days but without much seperating any of them.

It is amazing that with 5 albums I can listen to them all straight thru (at work) and there are only two songs (segues excluded) I even consider skipping ... Intension and occasionally Pu**** (just to get to Aenema quicker). There aren't any other bands I can even come close to saying that for.

Can't wait until the full US Tour starts. Me and my co-worker are going to try to go to multiple shows depending on where they end up playing.

Pu**** is like top 2 of my favorite tool songs (it changes between that and The Grudge). I could never skip it lol. I'd skip, Eulogy, Stinkfist or jimmy even though they're great songs. Oh and that damn soft version of Pu**** people orgasm over is waaaay overrated to me.

Ænima is really making a comeback to me with the depth to it. It could be Ænima = Lateralus > 10,000 Days > Undertow > Opiate

To each his own ... . I love Aenema so Pu**** is just a barrier to get to Aenima to me. But I could never skip Eulogy or Jimmy. NEVER! Stinkfist, maybe.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

I'm really liking 10,000 Days, but there's no way it stands up to Lateralus or Aenima. Lateralus and Aenima are both high 9's for me (Lateralus 9.8, Aenima 9.6), whereas 10,000 Days is a high 8 (on the Tool scale). It's a clear tier below for me. Right now, it's Lateralus, Aenima, 10,000 Days, and Opiate/Undertow. I have to group them as one.

Re: Tool - 10,000 Days

By the way, has anyone been to Alex Grey's gallery in NY? I went there last year and plan on going again at least once this summer. It's one thing to see his work online or in a book, but in person, it's unbelievable. The amount of detail is brainshattering.

Are there any albums you consider a 10? Just wondering.

Does he have his own personal gallery? I've been to NY twice but if I head up there again I'd love to go see his work. It looks pretty incredible from what i've seen.

Nah. You can't have a perfect album. Lateralus is probably the highest ranking I have for a modern album.

Ok, just checking. I think i'd have to agree. I've been listening to Lateralus a lot lately and not only is the music a thing of beauty but the meaning behind it has a incredibly powerful message.

yeah, I would love to see that. I hadn't been to NY since '01. I was actually born there. But looking at his stuff is just mindblowing, I couldn't imagine how it is in person.

his site is selling autographed copies of 10,000 Days with Grey's sig. They're 30 bucks with limited stock.
