I didn't like the whole video. You don't need a thousand creative decision to have something come off as corny. I didn't like how basic the video was. They could've done better even with those same elements. I didn't like any of the choices. The lighting too.

I really didn't make a big deal out of it. I said it doesn't help. If someone comes in (for any genre) with this video it would still come off the same way (which is why I don't watch indie rock videos).

You misunderstood. I was questioning exactly how it "adds" to any corniness, as if the implication was that there was a fundamental corniness apparent without the dancing.

Of course, one creative decision can make anything bad. That's not my point.

As per Jay-Z or Kanye or Lupe, you're really comparing apples to oranges. This guy has an entirely different background as those three. He's coming from a sketch comedy background. He's inherently silly. That's how he started. His "prance" could be viewed as silly, even corny. But I think it's fine within the context of the video. Absolutely fine.

And Lupe has almost zero charisma in his music videos. Of course he wouldn't prance around.

I don't like the video or the song. I liked Donald Glover's rapping better when he was rhyming over Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective tracks. He didn't come across as serious about it as he does here.

No, you don't. But this is really basic. I mean, I don't see this inherent corniness there (without the dancing) that you seem to. It's really minimalist. You can dislike it on that level sure.

There's also the title card at the beginning. It's built up to be something bigger than it really is, and that ties into the song.
