WTF is that supposed to mean to the last two posts...I don't understand how Hip Hop fans could just shit on Hip Hop in general but still seek out the music

I have no idea why he signed with them in the first place

Re: Best Releases Thus Far (2012 edition)

I read "musically decent" as meaning melodic. It isn't a shit on hip-hop. There aren't too many rappers that are making that kind of rap. Maybe Drake.

Re: Best Releases Thus Far (2012 edition)

It used to be so good! I guess hip-hop isn't the cutting edge of music anymore. When I got back into it around 2005, hip-hop artists were the only ones doing anything remotely interesting. I wonder who's doing that now (aside from Kanye).

There's a lot of interesting stuff going on in hip-hop right now but if you're just going to look at the surface and discredit what's not at the surface there's nothing that can be done.

I mean if Kanye is being held up as the bastion of creativity and what's interesting right now in hip-hop... the genre is ****ed. Luckily he's not.

Re: Best Releases Thus Far (2012 edition)

He is right, though. Since 2005, Kanye has been on a hell of a run. Nobody is really coming close. I do disagree with the "hip-hop artists were the only ones doing anything remotely interesting" comment, but what can you do.

Re: Best Releases Thus Far (2012 edition)

On a mainstream level, but the internet is making it so guys like Danny Brown and Odd Future and Kendrick are getting a lot of shine.

There are credible people that would tell you all 3 are making better music than Kanye at this point

Odd Future is probably the exact opposite of being musically decent. lol

Meh. I put them in the Eminem category...can't **** with them personally (even though for a period I was on them hard for some reason) but I could see why people do. They're refreshing...

Re: Best Releases Thus Far (2012 edition)

Odd Future is nothing like Eminem tho.

How can you put them under that category when the majority of them don't make music like that?

I mean in that category of people I acknowledge as good but don't listen to...I could've just as easily said like...Aesop Rock or somebody like that. Not that I think he's good but you get what I'm saying

Ah, okay.

I thought you were doing the thing that others do where they group everyone in with Eminem because of some of there output.

That new Ab-Soul is up there too. Everyone seems to be big upping the Meek Mill tape, but it's mostly the same people who still get hype for a new Mac or Wiz single so I have been hesitant to check up on him.
