Re: Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, Mad City
I mean, I dont usually look much into sales at all but the fact that this guy is going to smash Rick Ross's first week sales (and any other hip hop release this year, til this point) out the the damn park really puts a smile on my face.

Re: Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, Mad City
Let me be clear that I enjoy the album... I just had unrealistically high expectations.
Oh and **** fake Rick Ross. He should smash his sales.

Re: Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, Mad City
In 1997 about two nights before Wu-Tang Forever came out the local radio station leaked (this was the equilivant to what we call a leak now in the pre internet stage) "For Heavens Sake" and "Itz Yourz." This was after months of hype on a double CD where the Wu kept talking about a takeover and how they've been locked in a basement cooking it. So two days later I busted a nut while I opened the package and then a couple hours later I was unsatisfied. I didn't even want to talk about the CD with friends for months. Now, I can't go more than 3 months without listening to Wu Tang Forever, and have most of the songs memorized.
So yes, I already take back what I said in this thread. Kendrick is so humble and you can tell he busts his ass... hope he doesn't go all Kanye on us.

Re: Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, Mad City
Easily album of the year, and the best I've heard in years. The only thing about this album, is that it works as an album. Which is great, but I feel like some of the individual songs are worse off for it. I enjoy it more as a CD, than putting any of the songs in a mix.

Re: Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, Mad City
AOTY for me, don't think anything is catching this. It gets better with every listen.
Best tracks: Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe (Best Song of the Year) Backseat Freestyle Money Trees (Jay Rocks verse? more Heat than LeBron and them) MAAD City Sing About Me (Dying of Thirst is cool, but Sing About me is just ill) |
