Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
I have the 4th overall pick in a 14 team draft tonight. I'm assuming the big 3 running backs will be off the board by my pick. It's a non ppr league with standard scoring and I was just curious as to what you guys think I should do. Rodgers and Megatron are the top 2 guys on the board but by my second round pick their might be nobody left at running back so I'd be scared to pass on one with my first rounder. Thoughts?

Aaron Rodgers and it's a complete no brainer to me.

The next RB's are too risky to take 4th. CJ2K, MJD, Peterson, Demarco Murray, Forte, Lynch. I'd go Rodgers too.

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
I've changed my tune on this, especially in a league that big. There will be RBs coming back to you, just make sure you take them in the 2nd AND 3rd round. Draft Rodgers. Then take, like, Steven Jackson or Darren Sproles or Doug Martin. 2 of those dudes. People will be taking QBs and WRs and TEs, and the second and third tiers of RBs are actually pretty deep.

David Wilson looks like he's gonna make an impact too. Probably get him later some of others.
I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I'd lean slightly towards Megatron. |

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
WR is DEFINITELY a position of deep deep strength. I would not take Megatron, personally. I have Decker as my #28th WR and I would love to have him as my #2. Actually I should probably move him up a little...
But anyway, Calvin has a history of injury too. I guess Rodgers does as well. |

I'm not touching a WR in the 1st round.

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
Not sure why anyone would draft a WR that high. Maybe at the very end of the first round, but even then.

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
It depends on league rules, etc. I'm in five leagues and have different plans for that scenario b/c league rules are different. Normally, I'd take Chris Johnson b/c I think running back is the shallowest position, and I'm hearing good things about Chris Johnson. Also thinking Maurice Jones-Drew. However, in one league, we've got QB-friendly rules where pass TDs are 6 and ints only -1, so in that league I'm taking Rodgers or Brees if Rodgers isn't there.

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
In our league this is what we have to start each week:
QB WR WR RB RB FLEX(RB/WR/TE) TE K DEF The only reason why I am considering passing on Rodgers is because of that flex position. Oh and the fact I'm a Vikings fan cheering for a Packers QB would be difficult but at the end of the day it's about winning. CJ2K, Run DMC, AP and MJD are all risky to take that early so I'll listen to you guys and take Mr.Rodgers.

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
I agree with kbdullah, in a ten team I'd probably take CJ2K as I have been advocating on here. Its the 14 team league that scares me. I like the RB depth this year, which is why I'm planning on stocking up on them early and often, but it also means in bigger leagues you can wait AS LONG AS YOU go RB heavy later. I'd suggest 3 of your first 5 picks be RBs.
If you aren't sold on Rodgers or you just hate the Packers, honestly just take Tom Brady. Rodgers has concussion issues and scrambles more. You're sacrificing the rushing TDs, but you might get an extra game out of Tom. Not to mention Brandon Lloyd is going to really kick up that offense. |

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
In my opinion the 4th best back will end up being McFadden...
but I'd probably still take Rodgers in that spot...set it and forget it feels really nice.

Re: Foster, Rice, McCoy...then who?
I just took McFadden in my keeper league. I can thank the dude who didn't keep Rice and Brady for that one. It was his first time in a keeper league, so he was looking for "value" because the cost is the round in which they were drafted and he took Rice-Brady 1-2 last year. Whoops.
