2014(II) Mason Mock Draft
Kings #1:
Amir Jones PG/SG This seems like the easy and safe pick here at #1. Answer may throw us all a curve ball, but I think this fit seems too good to throw away. Clippers #2: Alex Abrines SG/PG The Clippers don’t have much to work with regarding their guard play since Kobe left. They have some promise with post play, but have a lot of work to do until they will contend for a playoff spot. I think the Clippers need a major gamble here. This could be a homerun hit… or maybe just a single. If the Clippers do decide to go with a guard, I think it is a no-brainer to go with Abrines. Bucks #3: Jacky Biber SF/PF/SG The Bucks have been in constant change with their roster. The last time the Bucks had the #3 pick, they took a SF in MKG, and we know how well that pick was. They might want to take another SF in Biber who is a very versatile and balanced player. Biber could be a cornerstone of the Bucks for a long time. Wolves #4: Oudry Kisamba C The Wolves have been searching for a replacement at C ever since they traded Al Jefferson. The Wolves received this #4 pick from the trade with the Nets, so it is only right if they pick his replacement here. Pacers #5: Steve Andrews PF/C The Pacers have a lot of good things going for them. Westbrook and Carmelo (if they bring him back) are a very nice duo. They do need to add some depth at post next to Chris Kaman. Some rumors say that Andrews might go in the top 4, but I don’t think he will fall much father than the Pacers. Pacers #6: Neal Lewis PG The Pacers are in major need of a backup PG behind Westbrook. Elijah Johnson is not going to get the job done. The Pacers might be smart to grab a PG here. Another route may be to gamble with an international here. Bullets #7: Martin Sharp PF/C The bullets have a star post player in Nerlens Noel, but other than that they just have role players. I have heard rumors that billboards are already being created with Sharps face on it in Washington. Wolves #8: Linos Chrysikopoulos SG/SF/PF Rumors are that the Wolves are not looking to keep Joe Johnson long term. Linos would be the long-term fix as the backup wing player. Best case, Linos become the starting SF and moves Aaron Gordon down to PF. Worst case, Linos becomes the long-term backup. Thunder #9: Giacomo Rossi PG This pick is a shot in the dark. The Thunder need to upgrade at PG. They could also go for one of the many post players left. My guess is that PG is too much of a hole to wait to fill. An international might be the way to go here. Pros #10: Joey Nix PF/SF Nix has been rumored to be going as early as 5, but also as low at 11. I am banking on the lower end of this scale. Nix is a matchup problem at the PF position. Nix can put up points in bunches, but has weaknesses in other spots. Bucks #11: Lucas Nogueira PF/C The Bucks need some more help in the post. They have enough role players, so they will take the gamble on an international big. “Bebe” is a raw player who has the ability to grow into a stud player. “Bebe” is listed as the #2 international post player coming into the NBA Draft. He might not fall to 11, but if he does he won’t fall much farther. Pistons #12: Mike Swift SF/SG Mike is a safe pick right here. He won’t wow any teams, but he also won’t make many mistakes. The Pistons may go for an international, or maybe a post player here.
