Early Look at the 2015 Draft

Guards:

LaDominic Washington 6’3”, 19 Kentucky, PG/SG
One of the most highly recruited players coming out of high school, LaDominic Washington decided to bring his talents to Kentucky where Coach Calipari has done wonders with other PG’s including Derrick Rose, John Wall, and Brandon Knight. LaDominic does not fit the mold of the traditional point guard as he will often look to shoot first and pass second. His combination of speed & agility allow him to get to the hoop with ease and his outside shot is still considered a work in progress. On Defense, LaDominic Washington is able to suffocate opposing point guards with his 6’7” wingspan which led to many turnovers this year with the Wildcats. At only 19 years old, LaDominic Washington still has a lot of maturing to do as he still tries to make the highlight play every time instead of making the “smart” play. Regardless, Washington should still be among the early picks in the 2015 FRSL Draft.

Andrew Weiss 6’5”, 21 Miami, PG/SG

One of the most unselfish players in the Draft, Andrew Weiss led the nation in assists (7.2apg) this year while playing for the Hurricanes. Great court vision, Weiss always seems to know where everybody is on the court at all times. He’s a natural leader on the court and has great instincts also. With a below-average jump shot, Andrew Weiss does not look to shoot the ball much from outside. Instead he likes to play the mismatches and will look to post up his man when he has the size advantage. On the other end, Weiss is a slightly below average perimeter defender though he makes up for it with his toughness as he’s very hard to take off the dribble and he’s not afraid to switch onto a big man who’s in the post.

Jason Goodwin 6’2”, 22 St. Johns, PG

A true point guard who possesses great quickness, Jason Goodwin loves to get out in the open court and run the fast break. Goodwin should make for a perfect fit for any team looking to run an up tempo offense. He’s a solid ball handler though he tends to cough up the ball more often than you would like to see from your point guard. Struggles from time to time shooting the three though is able to create his own shots. Defensively, Jason Goodwin is considered a below average defender by FRSL scouts. He gets beat off the dribble too often and he tends to bail himself out with fouls.

M.J Cooper 6'6", 20 Syracuse, PG/SG/SF
The son of Michael Cooper (5 times NBA champion , 5 times NBA All-Defensive First Team and one time NBA Defensive Player of the Year ) should follow in his father footsteps. This 6’6" athletic player will probably never turn out to be your Franchise player but just like his dad he would be an excellent role player in FRSL and a great glue guy, Cooper is considered to be one of the "Hot" players among FRSL scouts for the 2015 draft. His major strength is his defensive game as his long wingspan and quick steps will terrorize every player that he will face against from PG to SF. His great athleticism will help him to score from ally-oops and follow up jams as he is an excellent offensive rebounder. Cooper won't be your go to guy player but his 3p% can be good as he has the range to make those shots.

Wings

Stacey Jackson 20, 6’5” UConn SG/SF

Stacy Jaskon has FRSL scouts raving about his offensive abilities. Jackson’s quick release makes him deadly from outside and he can just as easily take you off the dribble if you play him too close. Probably the best pure shooter in the draft, Jackson has been drawing comparisons to UConn alum Ray Allen. Jackson has the abilities to score in bunches and really take games over. On the defensive end, Jackson plays the passing lanes very well and he’s solid with his perimeter defense also. Stacey Jackson should have a solid career in the FRSL and will most likely be one of the first players taken in this year’s draft.

Trevor Downs 20, 6’7” UCLA, SF/SG/PF

Trevor Downs is a tough minded player who prides himself on the defensive end. His game has been drawing comparisons to Ron Artest/Anthony Mason. Lockdown defender, who is a master thief on the court. Has great bulk for a SF and has the abilities to guard big men in the post. On the offensive end, Trevor Downs seems to force it up from three where he is rather inconsistent with his shot. Not a great ball handler either and tends to make bad decisions passing the ball also.

Jerry Starks 21, 6’5” Georgia Tech, SG/SF
The leading scorer in the ACC this year, Jerry Starks can score from outside and take you off the dribble. With one of the quicker first steps in the draft, Jerry Starks is able to get the hoop when he wants and make the highlight play. The one major knock on the Stark’s offensive game is that he tends to get too comfortable shooting the three when he should be instead trying to get to the paint, where he get much easier shots and draws more fouls. Defensively, Starks seems to take plays off from time to time and instead save his energy for the offensive end. Projects to be a mid- to late lottery pick.

Brad Onassis 21, 6'8" North Carolina, SG/SF
This guy might be next big thing in FRSL , playing for 3 years at UNC has really helped him develop. He is a lot more mature than a lot of the college players and some of the FRSL players as well.
He has the right size, strong frame, aggressive mentality , great leaping ability as he simply refuses to be denied once inside the paint. Makes a living from alley oop dunks and finishing well the fast breaks. Onassis is an extremely intelligent player as he led UNC in assists per game (5.4 apg), sees the floor very well because of his height, his real value was making the rest of his teammates better, getting them involved in the game, continuing to feed them the ball even if they were slumping. Onassis has a nice jump shot though many FRSL scouts questioned his shooting range, and his willingness to take the three pointers , at defense he can guard quick players, power players, and top shooters and make them disappear. As one FRSL scout told me: "Dynamic ,slashing, scoring wing player.

Bigs

Tejay Evans 20, 6'7" UVLV PF/SF

Don't let it fool you, though Tejay Evans is a poor natural athlete and isn't tall enough to play as a PF this guy is a "player". Tejay Evans is a hard working player (won the Naismith College Player of the Year ), he is a fantastic rebounder and he is doing it by combining a terrific work ethic with an outstanding feel for cleaning the glass, although he lacks the vertical explosiveness most great rebounders possess, Evans has an uncanny knack for out-positioning his opponent moments before a shot is released. Evans wont have problems in showing his skills on offense right away, on the low post he is a "Beast" using his strong body and smart fakes to avoid the block, His jump shot isn’t the greatest but he has the range to hit a 3 pointer if you'll leave him alone. While Evans usually does well defending the post, he really only excels with players that try to go over or through him, showing problems against players with quick feet who will try to out-finesse him, which is concerning for those who project him as a power forward at the next level.

Kris Clyde 6’9”, 21 Minnesota, PF/C
Despite not being the most athletic player, Kris Clyde has been getting looks from many FRSL scouts. One of the hardest workers and most fundamentally sound players in the draft, Clyde has been drawing comparisons to a better version of Tyler Hansbrough. On the offensive end he has a solid post game and can make the 15’-18’ jumper consistently. He has one of those motor that just doesn’t stop which helps him tremendously on the boards. While, Kris Clyde is not going to block many shots, he still gives opposing players a hard time in the post with his pure strength.

George Leary 6’9”, 20 Arizona, PF/SF
After a solid sophomore season with the Wildcats this year, George Leary is likely to declare for the 2015 FRSL Draft. One of the more versatile players in this year’s draft, George Leary has the abilities to play at either the 3 or the 4 in the FRSL. With his combination of size & agility, Leary is able to create his own shots off the dribble, though his post game can definitely use some improvement. Does not quite have the range on his shot to hit the FRSL three consistently. Defensively, Leary will need to bulk up some more if he wants to be able to contend with the FRSL’s best big men in the post though he makes up for it with his perimeter defense.

Darnell Cox 6’11”, 22 Georgia, C/PF
One of the best defensive players in the draft, Darnell Cox led the nation in blocks this year (3.2 bpg) with the Bulldogs. Has great length with a 7’2” wingspan and great instincts when it comes to blocking shots. Offensively, Darnell Cox will often settle with the mid-range jumper where he is a slightly below average shooter. His post game is definitely a work in progress and it might be tough for him to develop it once he reaches the FRSL though for a big man, Darnell Cox has pretty impressive handle and can hit the open man with a pass when needed.

Re: Early Look at the 2015 Draft

Good stuff! Onassis seems like a beast, and I want MJ Cooper on my team.

Re: Early Look at the 2015 Draft

I just talked to Hunerman and he's putting one together. I think he said that he should have it up by tomorrow.
