Re: Trade: Dallas and LA Lakers
How are those late picks?
I know Kenneth is a solid GM but to assume he's suddenly a contender is a bit much. He did trade a nice piece to get a nice piece so he needs to build around him and now doesn't have those two picks to do so.

Re: Trade: Dallas and LA Lakers
Kenneth is the best GM in both leagues but those picks are far from being late picks. He still has a lot of work to do to become a contender again...

Re: Trade: Dallas and LA Lakers
Nikos/Davis/Gortat is a very solid core, especially considering he has cap space and a clear cut cornerstone big to work around.
As to the reference to "late 1sts", generally speaking I will lump everything outside of the lotto as a late 1st. I understand there is greater value in the 18th pick than the 24th pick, but given the caliber of player Anthony Davis is, the difference in value between the picks is negligible.

Re: Trade: Dallas and LA Lakers
Mabro and Gortat are solid, but no way he can pass the Clipps, Wolves, Blazers, Pros, Thunder and even the imroving Spurs. i can see those picks in the 8-16 area.

Re: Trade: Dallas and LA Lakers
+1 , you are all forgetting that injuries might play a rule here.. who knows what will happen .. what i am sure about is that those pick the Mavs acquired wont be the 27 and the 28 picks.

Re: Trade: Dallas and LA Lakers
If they are 16 and 21 my point nor stance changes. Those picks will likely yield rotation players at best, which clearly has value, but I must reiterate how negligible it is given the talent level of Anthony Davis. This guy can be a perennial MVP/DPOY candidate, and he's only 25 years old.

MKG is not nearly the same caliber of player as Davis, he's just not.
