re: New Retro League?
Final thought tonight. I feel like there isn't enough incentive to make the playoffs if you are a borderline playoff team. The natural incentive if you are in 7th seed to 9th seed is to tank if you have your pick.
One potential solution to encourage more teams to compete is to have minor changes in caps depending on if you make the playoffs or not. Let's say reg cap is 50 million, lux cap is 60 million and hard cap is 70 million. My suggestion is that if you make the playoffs, all your cap figures go up by 1 million, if you miss playoffs all figures go down by 1 million. This kind of simulates profitability and attendance issues in real franchise management too. If you make finals, maybe your max caps all go up by 2 million (instead of just 1 million for getting into playoffs). If you make WCF or ECF, all max caps go up by 1.5 million. This incentives teams to do well even if there is a "dominant team" that is a favorite. You still gain something by doing better even if you most likely won't win title in the playoffs. Over several seasons, if you make the playoffs, it allows you to have more flexability to sign FAs. If you tank too many years in a row, it reduces cap flexability. I'm willing to volunteer to keep track of this for the league.

So one or two seasons not going to playoffs wont kill you. But if you use tanking too much to try to get critical mass of talent, there is a downside to it to adds up.

re: New Retro League?
^There would have to be a max to that. Inexperienced GMs would lose interest FAST.

Also 1 million only represents a 2% of the base cap figure. Feel it solves more problems than it creates if your problem is inactivity. Inactivity partially stems from owners pursing 2 or 3 year tanking strategy so they don't attend anything/aren't active during their tanking phase. If you incentives making the playoffs more, you encourage more DC changes, trading to improve teams. Instead of just tanking, peacing out for entire season until the draft/fa period comes. The overall talent of top tier rookies more than makes up for it if they truly are bad and just not tanking.

re: New Retro League?
I'm liking Kenneth's idea... Think there should be a reasonable cap though... A good GM who just continues to retool would be dominant.

![]() FRSL wanted more balance and this would be the opposite. Good idea but needs to be capped for sure if we implement it.

re: New Retro League?
I dont know if I can motivate again for a retro league or something else after losing a team twice that I really liked.
In especially as I am not the biggest retro fan. Well, I think I have to I guess but please please don`t cut this league that fast again...still don`t see a lot of reason with ~20 active GMs. Just let some old veterans retire and keep new drafts smaller and cut 4 teams.over the nexttwo seasons.

re: New Retro League?
Personally, I think you guys worry to much about the few who are not engaged instead of the majority of the league that is heavily engaged.
