FRSL: Prime Time Matchups
December 26, 2012
(4th)Lakers (14-9) VS (3rd)Thunder (15-9) This is a RIVALRY matchup that could be a preview to a Western Conference Semi's or WCF series. The Thunder currently hold only a half game lead over the Lakers, but the Thunders home record is 10-3 while the Lakers on the road are currently 1 game below .500. This is going to be a low scoring grind it out game with both teams consistantly putting up points in the low to mid 90's range, while holding opponents to around 90 points per game. Both teams are also pretty much identical in every other statistical category. Prediction Thunder take it 91-86. Dec 26, 2012 (1st) Nuggets (17-7) VS (2nd) Jazz (20-11) Here we have 2 of the hottest teams in the league going head to head. The Jazz are coming into this one with a new look though, moving out Billups and bringing in Jennings. With this negatively affect their recent performance, or will it prove to be an upgrade? Well this is going to be a great test game. The Nuggets come in only losing 1 out of their past 11 games behind the hot play of D Wade putting up 27/6 rebs/4 ast and 2.5 steals per game, along with the rest of the starting unit the Nuggets look to keep their strong play alive against a very tough opponent. Prediction NWO wins 99-96 Dec 28, 2012 (1st) Pistons (18-9) VS (4th) Heat (14-9) The Pistons had the hottest start in the league but have recently cooled down, although they still hold top spot in the East. Westbrook has been having the best season of his career so far, while having Hibbert and Spliter dominate the paint and Gallinari unconscious behind the arc the Pistons are a tough matchup for anyone. While the Heat had a average start to the season, they have recently found their groove and are pushing the Pistons for that #1 seed in the East. With the one of the best defenses in the league and a 11-1 home record the Heat will most likely move themselves a game closer when this one finishes. Prediction Heat win 96-85 Jan 1, 2013 (6th) Raptors VS (8th) Knicks We kick off the New Year with two franchises that can't stand each other. The Raptors have played consistant ball all year, with the MVP type play of Thadd Young putting up 20/10 at SF while shooting 50% from the floor and Assist leader Rajon Rondo the Raptors are a team that can pull off victories over anyone. The Knicks are a team on the rise, after an extremely slow start the Knicks have moved from last place into a playoff spot. Kevin Love is putting up career numbers with 24/15 and Loul Deng putting up 21/7, either of these guys can carry the Knicks to victory on any given night. With the Knicks playing at home, and the Raptors still trying to find their stride on the road the Knicks are the likely team to win this one. Prediction Knicks win 104-100
