Andris Biedrins?
Just curious about how Warriors fans regard this guy. I don't think I've ever seen him play, but his per-minute rebounding numbers last season were really good for anybody, just amazing for an eighteen year old international. Can/will he get 20 mpg this year? Could he supplant Foyle as the starter by midseason? I gather he's primarily a defense/boards player right now, but does he have some offensive potential? Etc, etc. I haven't sen him discussed much in Golden State pre-season discussions, and I guess rightly so, but I wonder if he could be a guy that really steps it up this year.

Wow. Given parentage of that calibre, the boy was never going to be your basic, middle-income Macedonian. Either he was going to conquer nation-states all the way from Athens to India, engraving his name in history, or he was going to wind up running a club called Oedi***** on the wrong end of Mykonos. "

With the centers we've had in recent history--Todd Fuller, Alton Lister, Rony Seiakly, Uwe Blab, Paul Mokeski--we're a tad reluctant to herald our centers.
In all seriousness, though, I think we're taking the same wait-and-see approach the Warriors are w.r.t. Biedrins. No doubt, we ALL feel sky's the limit with this guy. Entering this season, major concerns regarding Biedrins were foul trouble, free throw shooting, and strength. I doubt there are many here who WOULDN'T want to see him take the starting nod from Foyle--but that's only if he can hold his own defensively in the middle, as Foyle provides the right defensive presence to counter the lack of D from Murphy and Dunleavy.

Not with the Warriors, no.
Biedrins has pretty good basketball IQ (defensively at least), soft-hands, and likes to mix it up inside (though he needs another 20 pounds of muscle). He is too raw at this moment but he definitely has great upside.

Re: Andris Biedrins?
I do like Biedrins a lot. He has a lot of fire that you like big men to show. Like you mentioned Kawika, he has a knack for sticking his nose in there and grabbing rebounds. I love that.

Biedrins has totally different style of play comparing to Lampe and Cabarkapa. Biedrins IS a center, the later two are forwards.

Re: Andris Biedrins?
i really like biedrins. Anyone who needs an offensive tune up rather than learn how to play defense is someone i'd want onmy team. (OT-Lampe will breakout this year)
