Re: Whats J-Rich's role when he comes back?
I wouldn't be surprised--or disappointed--if he sat the rest of the year out. The broken hand aside, the knee surgery he had obviously wasn't close to being healed at season's start.
Typically, knee surgeries take a year to 18 months to really get right again. Of course, for every rule there's an exception (look at what Kobe's doing this year), but I'd rather, at this point, let the new pieces we have develop a chemistry with the healthy bodies we have now and take a conservative stance w.r.t. J-Rich's recovery.

Re: Whats J-Rich's role when he comes back?
Last year we considered J-Rich untradeable because he gave everything he got. Now because he's been injured we're talking about trading him? What the hell is wrong with the Warriors?
Maybe give J-Rich the rest of the season (or at least most of it) off, but let him come back and do his thing next season.

If I were Nelson, and the Warriors are still in the hunt, I would have J-Rich off the bench. It would take 10 games for him to really get back into the flow.

Once Jason Richardson gets back in old form this team will be lethal.

Re: Whats J-Rich's role when he comes back?
hey. i have been MIA due to computer problems, but yeah.
J-Rich has his spot when he comes back. Nellie is actually waiting for him to come back. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_yl...e&type=fantasy
it even looks as if when he comes back, he'll be pushed into the starting line up instantly until he looks as if he can't keep it up. personally, i am a little glad he broke his hand and has to sit out a month and a half. it gives him time to reevaluate his knee which clearly wasn't back to shape. another couple weeks off that knee did him better than worse. a broken hand will heal too, so the hand is not a problem for me. you don't need a perfect hand to posterize other people, but knees sure do help.
BTW i hate these trade talk rumors circling him. he's been the only consistant bright spot for the warriors minus the baron trade and just because he's hurt we're ready to ship him? show some faithfulness! why do we accept bonds with all his misery? (assuming that you're all bay area fans) i'm a big alex smith supporter, and you should see all the smack i get for that from my socal friends. but i keep faithful. bonds and smith have given me huge reason to doubt both of them...but jrich hasn't done anything! if you doubt him, go on youtube just watch those j-rich mixes or dunk contests or the dallas shot and remember how he made you proud to be a warrior fan.

Welcome back, Sandstorm.
Look, I'm the first to say I'd love to keep J-Rich here as long as possible. Bottom line, though, from a business stand point (and if various sports management and players haven't emphasized that enough, this is a business), it might make more sense for the Warriors to move this guy. Because of his value, it will be easy to move him...if the right opportunity presents itself.
Do we remain loyal to J-Rich at the cost of allowing Monta, AB, and/or Pietrus to leave? Ready to see Monta start the All-Star game in 3 years in another team's uniform? Want to see Biedrins leading the Celtics (or Knicks, or Grizzlies...or whomever else) to the playoffs?
Making the call to move Dunleavy was easy. Murphy? Not as easy, but easy enough. The prospect of seeing Richardson leave the Warriors hurts like hell, but it could well be for the long term benefit of the team.
Oh...and you're not the only one in SoCal catchin' heat for Alex Smith, Sandstorm. This last season, you could catch me at my local sports bar sportin' my Alex Smith jersey to the laughter of most in the bar. Made it nice, though, when we beat the Raiders and the Rams that first time.

AWESOME.
i'm curious as to how much money freed up by losing mike and murph? cuz i am not completely sure but somewhere i heard jacikevicus (i have no idea how to spell it) and stephen jackson's contracts end when we need money to resign monta and biedrins or at least around that time? and we did take a llot of cap space by getting rid of those two right? does anyone know how much free money we have? enough to resign monta and biedrins? please don't let the arenas situation happen again where we couldn't give him enuogh money even though he wanted to stay.

Warriors salaries
Pacers salaries
For this year, I believe the salary exchange has to be even for the trade to work. Beyond that, though, the difference, that I can see, is that while Dunleavy's and Murphy's contracts expire after the 2010-11 season, Jackson's and Harrington's contracts expire a season earlier. Jasikevicius' contract expires after next season--the same as Ellis, Pietrus (and Cabarkapa).
Assuming that Jasikevicius and Cabarkapa leave after next season, their departure will free up roughly $7 million. That, with salary cap increases, ought to be enough to sign one of Pietrus or Ellis....but I doubt both will be able to be signed.
Then, of course, after the 2008-09 season, we've got Biedrins to worry about....

Re: Whats J-Rich's role when he comes back?
People are worried about losing Pietrus and/or Monta and Andris to keep Richardson, but honestly, I'd definitely be willing to give up Pietrus in the offseason to keep J. Rich. And as much upside as Monta has, J. Rich at 100% is easily a better player (and fit for a playoff competitive team) than Ellis is. No way I'd give up Richardson; and when it comes back this season, assuming the Warriors are still in playoff contention (they should be), I'd start him, Baron, Biedrins, Harrington, and Jackson with Monta as the sixth man.
