Warriors GM Chris Mullin showed up at the camp Monday. He's been in Serbia talking with last year's second-round pick, Kosta Perovic, about playing for the Warriors next season.

The Warriors have a full contingent of people here, with Baron Davis and Mickael Pietrus also showing up to talk to kids at the camp.

Pietrus said he's looking forward to testing the free agent waters this summer. He enjoyed playing for Don Nelson this year, saying it was "the most fun I've ever had playing basketball." But Pietrus said he's very concerned that Nelson will retire this summer -- a belief that several well-placed sources in the gym also held.

"I want to go to a place where I know I have a role and where I can improve my game," Pietrus said.

The Warriors, however, may want to hang on to him. Pietrus could play a bigger role in Golden State in the future. The talk here in Italy is that the Warriors are trying to move Jason Richardson and the No. 16 pick to move up higher into the draft to grab Yi Jianlian. Their targeted trade partners appear to be the Grizzlies (for Stromile Swift, Damon Stoudamire and the No. 4 pick), the Celtics (for Theo Ratliff and the No. 5) and the Bobcats.

theres no way the celts give up theos expiring contract and the number 5 for anything less than j rich and baron...not saying that would be the whole deal but i think something like theo, the 5, gerald green and delonte west for j rich and baron is fair

Edit: to make it work financially you would take wally sczerbiak as well...his contract and theos come off the books in 2 years and 1 year, respectively so you guys would be in pretty good shape financially soon and be able to resign guys like monta ellis and gerald green easily

its not crazy...you get 14 million dollars in cap relief after next season...another 13 mill in cap relief after the 09 season...Yi Jianlian...Gerald Green and Delonte West for a great pg who hasnt played over 67 games in the last 5 years and talented sg that has an insanely large contract...


lets face it the warriors are not contending for a title anytime soon...it was a fun run with them this year but they hit their cieling...you guys have very talented young players in ellis and biedrens add to that Jianlian, Gerald Green and Delonte West to go with Harrington and an insane amount of money to spend after 2 years and you got urselves a great future...if you keep baron and j rich you have a decent team in the west for the next couple of years but nothing that will get past teams like san antonio or poenix


look at the details and its a great move for both teams

Baron ain't gettin' traded.

W's ain't getting Pierce, Pau, or even Gerald Wallace.

And if this is the W's play for Yi Jianlian, wouldn't it seem that Nellie would be sticking around? The player-type Yi is being made out to be makes him appear to be a very Nellie-type player. Mullin, to his credit, has drafted pretty sold players - which is not to say that Yi might not be a solid player.

Shipping J-Rich for a question mark...dunno. I keep thinking if J-Rich can't recover from the knee problems (which next year ought to be a tell-tell year), could be worth it. I hate seeing the W's move this guy, though, considering all he's been through w/ the W's, and watching him grow as a player.
