I want Baron to sign a contract extension. He is my favourite player and would love to watch him in the bay area for many years to come
thoughts?

Re: Davis And Warriors Discussing Future
Why not? Have to be reasonable because we all know Baron is not exactly a strong man. Dont want to have another Mashburn-Houston type contract on the Warriors' hands

Re: Davis And Warriors Discussing Future
Warriors are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
The smart play is not to, considering Baron's history of health. Locking him up - might that make him complacent? I love the guy, but I'd worry about his motivation to stay fit w/ a big contact. Even if he did stay fit, he's still susceptible to injury.
Then again, there hasn't been a guy with the talent, charisma, and je ne sais quas since Tim Hardaway. The guy has a lot of intangibles (as was displayed loud and clear in this year's playoffs).
I say why not? It would be a risk, but a smarter risk, IMO, than other signings under the current regime.

When you get to chance to keep a guy like Baron Davis on your team, you do it.

Re: Davis And Warriors Discussing Future
Also working on the nellie contract apparently
Quote:
The 67-year-old coach has two years and $6.2 million left on his contract, and he can almost double his salary through playoff-related incentives. The sources said Nelson wants those bonuses to be guaranteed, bringing his annual salary to about $6 million.
Nelson declined to discuss the issue, saying that his contract was up to O'Connor and Rowell to handle.
Reached by phone late Sunday, O'Connor said his client still hadn't made up his mind about next season.
"All I will say is that Don is very conflicted,"
O'Connor said. "He is extremely excited about this team, but at the same time, he exhausted himself this last season like he has never done before."

From the C.C.Times today:
Warriors bide time with free agents
Quote:

Point guard Baron Davis, who can opt out of the final year of his contract after the upcoming season and is seeking an extension, said he and agent Todd Ramasar have yet to hold discussions with the team. Negotiations will have to wait at least until next week, since Davis is working on the L.A. Stars charity all-star game, which takes place Sunday in Los Angeles. Davis said he has no drop-dead date for closing the door on negotiations but that he'd would like to know either way by Oct. 2, when training camp opens in Hawaii. "If there's nothing, and I have to play, I have to play," Davis said. "If there's an extension offered this year or next year, this is a place that I love."
