Monta Ellis in accident in practice; hospitalized.

Monta Ellis hospitalized ...
Quote:
Warriors guard Monta Ellis was wheeled off the court on a stretcher and taken to a hospital Friday night after hitting his head on a teammate's hip during their evening scrimmage.
Quote:
Ellis remained face down for more than 20 minutes, only slightly moving his legs, while being tended to by Warriors athletic trainer Tommy Abdenour. Several times, Abdenour stroked Ellis' right arm as if to test it for feeling.

Re: Monta Ellis in accident in practice; hospitalized.

This could be extremely bad for Golden State...If Ellis misses any games due to this injury, our other guards will really need to step up. With Jackson out for the 1st 7 games, I'm looking for co-captain Matt Barnes to step up big time and really dominate for the Warriors.

I'm hoping It's nothing too serious and he is ready to play against the Jazz on opening night.

Fingers crossed for my man monta

Sounds like it wasn't as serious as initially feared:

Monta Ellis Injury Update
Quote:
Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis, who was injured during the team's evening practice session at BYU-Hawaii on Friday when he hit his head on the hip of rookie forward Brandan Wright during a full court scrimmage, was released from the hospital late Friday night (Hawaii time, just before midnight). Ellis left Castle Hospital in Kailua, Hawaii on his own accord with what was diagnosed as simply a neck sprain. The 6'3" guard underwent a battery of tests - including an MRI and CT Scan - which all proved normal. His status is listed as day-to-day and his availability for the team's preseason games against the Los Angeles Lakers in Honolulu on Tuesday and Thursday will be determined early next week.

Glad he's alright. The original info sounded scary.

Not that the rest of the news needed validation, but here's Jim Barnett's take on the Monta accident - and recent training camp news:
