Agent: No Extension For Biedrins

Bill Duffy, the agent for center Andris Biedrins, said Sunday there will be no contract extension for his client after negotiations with the Warriors on a long-term deal ended with "significant" differences on Biedrins current value.
Duffy was seeking a five-year deal worth substantially more than $50 million. The Warriors' offer was substantially less than $50 million. The gap was large enough that talks did not progress to a serious degree.
"Their opinion is that they can pay him that next summer," Duffy said. "That's true, but we think his value will increase.
"The way this game is evolving, he's one of the top five young interior players in the NBA, in my opinion. He's 21 years old, he has the experience, he's confident and everyone knows his character and work ethic."

This is a smart move by Golden State. Waiting to see if Biedrins can backup last seasons "breakout." There have been quite a few centers who get contract extensions young then don't produce later on, but I'm pretty confident to say that Biedrins will keep getting better and better, and earn that big contract. I think the Warriors can see that too, but don't want to take any chances.
Thoughts?

Agreed. I'm actually pleased with the 'wait and see' approach by the W's (no kidding). Between Baron's health, Barnes' question mark for the long term, Pietrus' unrealized potential, and Monta and Andris' longevity, why not wait to see what happens another year with all of these players. It's not like in the team concept they're ALL going to have another breakout season.

After giving away a few stupid contracts "cough dunleavy, cough foyle ), the Warriors probably have realized that they should be patient on giving contract extensions away to players who have yet to prove them selfs.

But can run the floor well, rebound well, defend(down low) well, can block shots well, very good at finishing pick and rolls, and most importantly fits into Nellies system. As for post moves, Biedrins showed last season that he has the ability to post up defenders(not well yet, but his getting there).
This season is very important for Biedrins. Lets see what he can do
