Re: Game #7: Warriors (0-6) vs Clippers (5-2)
So it seems as though Nellie is going to ride his horses until they collapse. Again.
Winless Warriors won't rest their frontline players
Quote:
Warriors coach Don Nelson has two choices when it comes to trying to win games with a depleted roster. He can grind even more minutes out of his overworked veterans, or he can go to his rookies and live with their mistakes.
It's one or the other, the coach insists, and he's making no apologies for choosing the former despite fatigue factoring into another Warriors defeat.
"That was a risk I took," Nelson said the day after Golden State blew a 22-point lead against the Pistons. "You look back after a loss for reasons, and I always look in the mirror first and see if I could have done something else.
"It was such a tight game. We were in it right until the end. I wouldn't have done it any other way. I wouldn't have played the young guys more. ... I would have taken my risk with the fatigue."
|
I raise the question again - so early into the season (and considering the layoff before the Pistons game), should any of our players really be suffering from fatigue?

Pietrus might be back, but who knows if he'll play. It's not like Nellie used Croshere at all...
Warriors starters showing serious tread wear already

OFF THE GLASS: The Warriors could get a small break in their favor tonight. Forward Mickael Pietrus, who traveled to France to see the birth of his son, Evann, on Sunday, might be back in time for this evening's game. Few details were available regarding the birth, which was announced on the Web site of Pietrus' former French team, Pau Orthez. According to that team's release, Evann weighed 7.7 pounds. The Warriors had no official comment. ... Austin Croshere, who played in only one game before being felled by a sore back, was available to play Wednesday, but Nelson chose not to use him. "He was such a good player in training camp, making a lot of shots. We were just really happy with him, and then down he goes, and now he's got to start all over," Nelson said.

W's holding onto a lead, with 8 minutes and change left. Will they run out of gas? Will they hold onto the lead?

How about Andris Biedrins & Patrick O'Bryant? THEY BOTH DOMINATED! I was really happy for O'Bryant when he played most of the 3rd qaurter due to Biedrins' foul trouble. He had a few dunks, rebounds, blocks. Very good game. Speaking of blocks, HOW ABOUT BARON DAVIS! He got a career high 5 blocks! He didn't shoot all that well, but he passed, defended, stole and blocked extremely well. Ellis also gets a mention for providing some energy off the bench. Barnes played very well tonight aswell, played the majority of the game and shot, passed, defended very well. Harrington continues to impress, aswell as Azubuike who didn't play sensational, but still had a solid game.
GOOD WIN WARRIORS! WITH JACK AND PIETRUS BACK FOR OUR ROAD TRIP, I SAY WE GET BACK ON TRACK AND AIM TO GET BACK IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Re: Game #7: Warriors (0-6) vs Clippers (5-2)
While the keys to this game were Matt Barnes and Al Harrington, I've gotta say I was more than pleased with the center play - both Biedrins AND POB gave great production (not too be over critical, but O'Bryant's fouling out in 12 minutes has GOT to be cleaned up). Even while the box score doesn't look that great for Wright, I was even happy with his little stint.
Monta is starting to worry me - another tentative game.
Glad to get the win, just seems kind of weird when it's our FRONT court that's leading the team to victory, outscoring our backcourt.
