Re: GT #72: Golden State Warriors (44-27) @ Denver Nuggets (44-28) - 3/29
Nuggets-Warriors Preview
Quote:
With only 11 games left in the regular season, the Warriors will open a crucial two-game weekend stretch on Saturday night in Denver. The action is set to tip off at 6 p.m. on FSN Bay Area and KNBR 680.
As discussed in the latest entry of the Warriors Blog Squad, presented by Kia Motors, Saturday's match-up looms large for both teams. Currently in eighth place and a half-game ahead of the Nuggets in the Western Conference standings, the Warriors will need a win to maintain its current playoff position. Although each contest from here on out can carry heavy postseason implications, it’d be difficult to imagine a bigger game than this with a two-game swing on the line. A win, and the Warriors increase their lead to 1.5 games over the Nuggets and tie the Mavericks for seventh place in the conference. A loss, however, would drop the Warriors to ninth place, a half-game behind Denver in the standings.
Davis will be counted upon heavily as the team makes its push for the playoffs, but he won’t be alone in carrying the load. With several key players from last season’s memorable playoff run still major contributors on this year’s squad, the Warriors have the necessary experience to know how to approach such an important game.
Equally important to that experience will be Saturday’s gameplan. The Warriors have split their first two games of the season with the Nuggets, with each team winning on the road. No team can reasonably expect to shut down both Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson, but the Warriors found success when they focused their defensive effort on containing just one of their superstars. Although Anthony still registered 26 points, Iverson was held to 12 points on 2-of-12 shooting from the floor in Golden State’s 105-95 win at Denver on December 30

Should be a great game, can't wait. I see both teams coming out hard.

Yep, me too. And both teams know what is at stake. Though they might both get in with Dallas being the one who gets left out.

THIS is how the nuggets should always play.

With Golden State playing them twice, I'd say that's probably true.

Denver's really moving the ball well, and so far dominating in the paint.

After that timeout, Warriors have stepped it up. Ellis is still ridiculous.
Warriors down 27-23 with 2:25 left.

Jackson's an assassin.
Warriors down 65-61 at the half.
Both teams have cooled down with their shooting. Nuggets still dominating inside with 40 pts, and have 22 assists already. Warrior's are plus 15 pts on 3's though.

Warriors went on a 15-4 run midway through the 3rd. Baron's just been doing what he wants. Denver's been a little sloppy offensively and are settling for jumpers.
Warriors have their biggest lead 86-83 with 2:53 left in the 3rd.

Just like that, Nuggets go ahead 88-86 at the end of 3.
