Supposedly, Arenas Turns Nuggets Down
Quote:
|
For two, does that affect what Gilbert Arenas does? The Heat are now players for the free-agent guard after he listened to, but apparently turned down, a major-league offer from the Nuggets. But if Mourning takes a powder out of town, is playing in Miami with Vlad Stepania as appealing? Does Arenas make a beeline back to Denver -- or is it too late, now that the Nuggets (and Jazz) are entertaining Andre Miller and his agent this week?

It would be fascinating if Arenas stayed with Golden State another year, at the MLE. He'd then have Bird rights with the Warriors and could sign a big-money deal with Golden State.
The Warriors really need Arenas, if he is a possibility to stay.

Thanks for posting this, I've always been confident Gilbert wouldn't go to Denver and he'd stay in GS, so this is more great news for me. If he just sees the bigger picture.

I don't think Gilber will take the MLE, but it is great news for the Warriors, and with Gilbert they can make another challenge for the 8th spot, hopefully they can figure out a way to give Dunleavy more minutes and trade Fortson and Dampier.

*personal attack removed* If Gilbert doesn't come to Denver he's *swearing removed* not going to Golden State. That relationship was severed a long time ago. He has other options.
You're going to want to add some maturity if you wish to continue posting here. Further offensive posts from you and I'll just starting deleting your posts altogether and suggest you for suspension. -Minstrel

I for one, hope that the Warriors can retain Arenas, who got me back to watching all of their games(I have direct league pass). Add him and their young coach and they were a FUN team to watch.
The first handful of games when I watched Arenas, I knew that he would make it, even if he had to play the point. Skilled, quick, and so smart. I hope he stays - if it is best for him and the team - naturally.

If I'm Arenas, my top 3 possibilities are the Warriors, Heat and Jazz.

I also think Warriors should be a serious consideration for Arenas. He has a chance to be the guy the Warriors build a winner around. He still gets decent money for this year, $4.5 million, and can sign a large-money deal next season.
The Bay Area is a great place to live, also.

Pat Riley thinks that Arenas' agent Dan Fegan needs to "come back to reality" with his salary demands. He gave like a 60 second diatribe on how crazy he thought Fegan was for asking for so much money.
I guess that you can cross Miami off the list.

First of all it was in the paper, so how do you know how long it was. And secondly Riles never mentioned any agents name. He used agents as in plural. He was probably talking about Arenas, and kandi, and payton who asked for 82 million over 6-7 years along with resigning Zo, when the Heat offered him 40 mil over 6.

Actually, I saw Riley speaking on the news. That's how I know how long the statement lasted.
As far as what context the statement was in, I don't remember the quote verbatim. But it certainly appeared to be in the direction of Arenas and agent Dan Fegan. I can't imagine Riley being shocked and disillusioned by the fact that Payton, Olowokandi, and Mourning wanted big contracts from the Heat. And I could see the disillusionment in Riley's eyes when he said this.
Do you not think that Riley would make the statement that he did after hearing that a 21 year old PG, with one good season under his belt, would demand a multi-year contract that averaged around $8million per year? I think his comments reflect a typical Riley response to something like this, and he is probably right for thinking this way, to be totally honest. That doesn't mean that he won't regret it later when Arenas becomes one of the top PG's in the league with Golden State.
