The Golden State Warriors signed first-round draft pick Mickael Pietrus to a three-year contract July 7. Pietrus, the 11th overall selection in last month's draft, is a 6-foot-6 Guadeloupe native and three-time All-Star in the French league. He started for Pau Orthez in the French Pro A League last season, helping the club to its league championship. After a weekend visit to Oakland and a tour of the Warriors' training complex, Pietrus joined Golden State's summer league team in Long Beach on Monday along with Derrick Zimmerman, the Warriors' second-round draft pick from Mississippi State.

you guys cant be to happy about this guy signing. he looks horrible in that summer league. i think he is averaging like 4 points a game.

I think Warriors fans will give him more than a couple summer league games to judge his worth. Maybe even five summer league games!

I'm perfectly glad he signed. It'll be a small money rookie deal and in three years, if he hasn't shown anything, no further money wasted. If he becomes a keeper, they have his Bird rights to sign him long-term.

No risk, potential reward, like any first-round draft pick.

Pietrus will be a great, not good, but great......I think he has the potential to be one of the premier PG's in the league......I also hope Zimmerman gets a contract!!

He isn't a PG, he's an SG.

I read in a few places that more than any other player in the draft, Pietrus' stock was blown way out of proportion. He was the guy a lot of teams were leaking out that they wanted when in fact they had little interest in him. That's not to say that he'll definitely be a bust, but it's something to keep in mind.
