Zimmerman is a poor man's Gilbert Arenas. I think that's part of the reason the Warriors drafted him in hopes that he could become another Arenas.
They are both very athletic and attacks the rim very aggressively but since becoming the starting PG in Miss. St. I think Zimmerman has torned down his aggresiveness a lot in favor of more post works from Mario Austin. That said, he is a very coachable guy that plays within a system. He won't try to do too much (an aspect that actually helped Arenas broke through) but he won't make many mistakes. He was a pretty good scorer in high school but never had real chances on becoming one in State and I think his offensive skills have gotten worst since his sophomore year but that could be because of the system he played in.
One big different between him and Arenas is he actually played PG with some success at the college level. He led the SEC in assists in his junior year I believe although most of it came from non-conference games. Still, he averaged nearly 6 APG in conference play that year and ended up with I believe 7 APG to lead the conference. I don't know what was wrong with the State last year, Zimmerman's senior season, as they underachieved.
I can see him making this team if the Warriors lost out on Arenas and failed to sign both Boykins or Logan, or both. He won't have many chances though early in the season if he indeed makes the team.
