An idea from a Detroit Fan
Not sure what the case is with your team wanting to dump some salary, but one of our team board has been a buzz with the rumors of trying to acquire Jamison. I was wondering what we would have to give up and I was tinkering around and came up with this:
Detroit receives:
Antawn Jamison
Jiri Welsch
Golden State receives:
Cliff Robinson
Zeljko Rebraca
Chucky Atkins
Future 1st rounder (It would be our pick we received from Denver through Milwaukee, and it's lottery protected forever)
If you are truely interested in cutting payroll this might be decent. You get Cliff Robinson who could play big minutes and is a top interior defender. Rebraca is a cap filler throw in, but if he does play again you will really like his low-post scoring. I'm not a big fan of Chucky Atkins, but he would help fill the void left by Arenas. In my opinion, he is a better player than Speedy Claxton. And you get a pick that could turn out to be another solid player somewhere down the line.
I'm sure you will probably not like this, but I was just toying with the idea. I'm not going to sit here and claim to know what your true situation is, but if you are trying to dump payroll, I think this could be a pretty good deal.

Good thinking, but if the Warriors REALLY want to clear away payroll, they'll want a Hubert Davis instead of a Chucky Atkins. Davis has an expiring contract. So does Michael Curry. How about this:
Antawn Jamison and Corliss Williamson to Detroit;
Rebraca, Curry, Davis, Danny Fortson, and that pick you're talking about to Golden State
This move would allow the Warriors to make a nice market value offer to--guess who--GARY PAYTON next summer. Mike Dunleavy, by his third year, will hopefully start looking like a star. The 2004-05 Warriors:
Starting lineup
PG Gary Payton (32 mpg)
SG Jason Richardson (32 mpg)
SF Mike Dunleavy (32 mpg)
PF Troy Murphy (32 mpg)
C Erick Dampier (24 mpg)
Key reserves: Adonal Foyle (24 mpg), Corliss Williamson (16 mpg), Speedy Claxton (16 mpg), Mickael Pietrus (16 mpg), Jiri Welsch (16 mpg)
End of the bench (no PT): either Steve Logan or Derrick Zimmerman, 2004 first round pick (mid-lottery, probably a raw PF/C prospect), 2004 second round pick
Not a bad team right there. Probably better than what they'd look like by standing pat, holding onto Jamison, and NOT being able to sign Gary Payton next summer. I just don't really see how Dunleavy ever cracks that lineup as long as Jamison is around. Not unless Jamison moves back to PF, and I don't think you can win with Jamison playing PF, not in the West. He'd be totally fine in the East and would give Detroit a legit inside scoring option during the time it will take for Donnie Darko to develop into a star.

No thanks, the Warriors do not a 36 year old, and GP wants to win a championship. If the Lakers DO win it this year, it will be likely that he will retire along with the Mailman, if they don't, why the heck will GP want to sign with the Warriors!?
How about this:
DET gets:
Antawn Jamison
Erick Dampier
Danny Fortson
GS gets:
Mehmet Okur
Ben Wallace
You guys get a true scorer in Twan (not Rip, the scorer wannabe), lose Big Ben, but get another good defensive center in Damp. Fortson (a 10 pt, 10 reb guy two years ago) can come in to relieve Darko. While Okur can play both center and PF, he can relieve Wallace and Murphy.
GS 03-04 lineup:
C: Ben Wallace
PF: Troy Murphy
SF: Mike Dunleavy
SG: Jason Richardson
PG: Speedy Claxton
DET 03-04 lineup:
C: Erick Dampier
PF: Darko Millicic
SF: Antwan Jamison
SG: Richard Hamilton
PG: Chauncy Billups

Man, if we were to get rid of Antawn Jamison for that bundle of talent and a draft pick that wouldn't be high at this rate, anyway.
Might as well use that cap space to match Washington's offer sheet for Arenas. At this point, they shouldn't get rid of over half the current roster they have. A process of simple, destroy and rebuild is useless until next April when we see the final results of the regular season. Other than getting a legitimate 7 footer to take care of the frontcourt with Jamison, their cap room is their only problem to worry about, and they'll be fine since we're moving on without Gilbert.

I love this trade idea but you messed up Williamson and Fortson robyg. I will actually pay the radiculously expensive ticket price to see that lineup next year. The Warriors have no where to go but rebuild, unless Speedy Claxton prove me wrong otherwise. Cap room is always a good thing when you are rebuilding, getting rid of Jamison hurts because no one else has his scoring capabilities but Mike Dunleavy should be able to do a decent job replacing him. Getting rid of Fortson is a HUGE plus. Williamson brings some scoring.
Not bad at all for the Warriors.

With the line-up that you put out there if you traded Jamison, I think that you could be looking at an even better than mid lottery pick. Say for arguements sake it's the third pick. You could get Pavel Podkolzine (maybe Okafor or Splitter), who is definately a monster project. 7'5" with decent coordination. A few years from now, he could be very good. And if you were to sign Payton, look at the team you would have:
PG: Payton
SG: Richardson
SF: Dunleavy
PF: Murphy
C: Podkolzine
That could be very solid.
