The Golden State Warriors will be without forward Mike Dunleavy when they meet the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.

Dunleavy missed the first game of his career Monday as a sprained left ankle forced him to watch the Warriors' 106-101 loss to Memphis which ended a three-game winning streak.

Dunleavy, who is averaging 12.4 points and 6.5 rebounds, had started the first 45 games of the season before injuring his ankle in Friday's 101-81 win over Chicago.

While they were without Dunleavy, the Warriors activated Nick Van Exel before Monday's game. The veteran guard, who had missed eight games with an inflamed left knee, had four points and one assist in 14 minutes off the bench.

Jason Richardson scored 19 points to lead Golden State, which held a four-point lead after three quarters. But the Warriors shot just 28 percent and were outscored 28-19 in the final period.

``Even though we shot a very good percentage through three quarters, in the fourth quarter, we sputtered a little bit and struggled to score,'' Golden State coach Eric Musselman said. ``We played three solid quarters of basketball, and in the fourth quarter, we let it slip away.''

Dallas is also disappointed with the manner in which it let its most recent game slip away. The Mavs led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter before falling to Denver 107-102 on Saturday.

Looks like a good game. I'm glad the Warriors are keeping up. They need Murph and Dunleavy back ASAP.

Yup. The fact that they continue to compete at a high level without two of their best players is a very good sign.

The Warriors are actually quite deep. With Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy Jr, Jason Richardson, Nick Van Exel, Speedy Claxton, Clifford Robinson, Erick Dampier and Adonal Foyle they go a quality eight deep. But they need to be healthy.

I love watching this team, but not when they play the Mavs!

That was a good game, as there wasn't any runaway freight train - hard fought.
