TOR/GSW trade - what do you think
Golden State trades: C Erick Dampier (7.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Golden State receives: C Hakeem Olajuwon (7.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 22.6 minutes)
SF Morris Peterson (14.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.4 apg in 31.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +13.5 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and +2.3 apg.
Toronto trades: C Hakeem Olajuwon (7.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 22.6 minutes)
SF Morris Peterson (14.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.4 apg in 31.6 minutes)
Toronto receives: C Erick Dampier (7.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 73 games)
Change in team outlook: -13.5 ppg, -4.2 rpg, and -2.3 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Due to Golden State and Toronto being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Golden State and Toronto had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
toronto gets a big man, gsw gets a sparkplug off the bench and a tutor for its young big men like foyle and murphy

Man would I ever love getting Damp to play on the raptors. I think he could realy blossom. Especialy in the east. Dont like the thought of losing MoPete but it could work out as a good trade for both teams.

I don't think Mo Pete would fit anywhere on the team though.

I could be one of the very few persons here who actually like to have Dampier for at least one more season. Think about this: If we trade Damp, we have only Foyle and Murphy to play the 5 spot. That's not good. That's really bad actually. Dampier, although erratic and inconsistent, at least gives us a big body up front. Wait till next season, when he has one year less in his contract, and if he produces a little more, his trade value will go up. Then we can have better returns. Don't you think so?

The diffrence with Murphy and Dampier
Dampier although good in defense is ( the best word I could describe ) HORRIBLE in offense. Plus one day he's good.. the next 4-5 days he's horrible.. Murphy is still young, has bulked up from 245 to 250 or 255 lbs. and he is as tall as damp. they are both 6'11" but the big difference is that murphy has room for growth, has a lot more offense than damp. Always plays hard, and is willing to learn.. and most important.. A LOT CHEAPER.. Rookie scale.
I rather keep murphy.

I didn't say I would rather trade Murphy. I said perhaps we could keep Dampier for one more year when Murphy is getting accustomed playing in the paint. We will be a perimeter-based offensive team next season with only Jamison providing inside scoring, so we don't need Dampier to score. I just hoped that he can provide steady 20-25 minutes night-in and night-out on the defensive end. His strength is block-shots so let do it more, and he'll have to rebound better with Fortson most probably out of the starting lineup. On offense, he better disappear. Hey, I am sure many teams out there wouldn't mind to add a defensive-minded big-men after next season.

If the warriors would just..
Make Dampier Defend, Block, and REBOUND instead of lobbing the ball down to him and have him, TRAVEL, COUGH up the BALL, or TURNOVER.. ( HE DOES HAVE HANDS OF STONE ) This is what the warriors were doing last year.. and it was a disaster..

Foyle brings energy in nightly basis and I love to have him around while we're rebuilding - Not as a starter though. There's a reason Dampier got the starting nod over Foyle. Dampier is more talented than Foyle on the defensive end although he's too inconsistent. But still, Dampier led us in block-shots last season. He was one of the top ten players in the league in block-per-48-minutes.
