Re: Nissan Open
Sounded like a real exciting finish. Did Phil choke, or did Howell just outplay him?

A little bit of both, but Phil played like he had all weekend pretty much.

Re: Nissan Open
Phil choked, plain and simple. It was so obvious to everyone who watched the finale round.

If you want to say he choked, it wasn't just Sunday, it was Saturday too.

Phil did NOT play good all off round 3. Something was off, as it was Sunday, it just happened to fall through with Charles Howell III there who played a great round. Charles made mistakes in the playoff.. Phil just got screwed on a few chip shots and missed some short putts in regulation. Missing the short putts are what caused him the tournament, and those didn't happen on 17 and 18. He miss a short birdie putt on 16, but that was a for birdie. He didn't really do anything that I would call "choking" in the last three holes.
Oh yeah, Charles made a few long bombs, as well. That's not part of Phil's "choking".

Re: Nissan Open
I didn't watch it on Saturday so i can't say that. But Phil had 3 chances on Sunday to close out the match and he blew it. Came up short pitching from the rough. It was unlike Phil type of play......His short-game is usually top notch.

The grass there is just bad and unlike anything they play anywhere else. Everyone's short game was off pretty much all week. And they can't play the usual bumb and runs because the ball just doesn't release the same, as I think that's what happened on the second playoff hole, the ball landed right in the fringe and just took an odd bounce.
Like I said, missing the short putts (Saturday and Sunday) is what killed Phil. And he did them early enough in the rounds, it's not really choking in my book.
