We are in the entertainment capital of the world. Everyone comes to LA to make it big. The movie and TV industry here is the biggest in the world, and on any given day you'll see a random celebrity anywhere here. It gets to a point where you're not even starstruck by celebrities anymore. Whether it's LA hip hop, Orange County hardcore punk, heavy metal, or just some catchy pop music, we have everything to suit your tastes...except maybe country.

Sports
Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Chargers, Dodgers, Padres, Angels, Ducks are the pro teams that occupy this small space of land called Southern California. What LA is lacking for in an NFL Pro team, they more than make up for in USC football. Though I heard, LA will be getting an NFL franchise pretty soon. The Galaxy aren't bad either. You'll also find the big HS blue chippers from here.

Weather
The weather... :biggrin: 80 degrees all year and wearing shorts in the winter. How great is that? Also, if I want to go snowboarding, I have an hour and a half drive to Mountain High or Big Bear. If I want to hit up the beach, I drive 10 minutes to Manhattan..and keep in mind, this is all during winter. Summer and spring are perfect because we don't have that nasty sticky Vegas heat, when its sunny, theres usually a nice breeze to go along with it.

Diversity
Los Angeles is a great melting pot of a city. Probably only second to New York. Diverse people from all walks of life work and live around here. Meeting people from different cultures is definitely a good thing.

The Women
All the hot women where you live probably live in LA now. And I assume you already know about the beautiful Orange County girls. And it's not only the white blonde girls that you see here, like I said earlier, its a diverse city, so yes, all the beatiful women from every race live here. Not to mention, we are the plastic surgery capitol of the world. Fake boobs =

Trends
If its popular, it probably started here. Truly a trendsetting city. Every girl in the midwest tries to dress like shes from California. The skateboard culture which is now mainstream started here. Theres countless other trends, I can go on and on about....

Nightlife
So many clubs, so many hot single women, so many bars, the nightlife is great. I watch TV sometimes and I see people in small towns where the highlight of their weekend is hanging out at WalMart. I thank god that I was born and raised in SoCal.

Transportation
Okay, lets count this one as a negative. If you want to live in SoCal, you'll need a car and with the way gas prices are, it's not a good thing. The public transit systems aren't great. The metrorail sucks, I think we have a subway but I've never used it. Also, Buses in general suck. Taxis are never around unless you're at the airport, if not, you'll have to call them in.




Why do I love SoCal so much? There is always something to do. I stayed in Arizona for 6 months with family once and my god...it was such a bore. I don't think I can ever live anywhere else besides SoCal. Whether its LA or SD is fine with me.

Don't forget some Amusement Parks. I mean we got 6 Flags, Hurricane Harbor, Disneyland, California Adventure, Knotts, Knotts Waterpark(w/e it's called). How many other places got these many choices, well maybe besides Orlando.


But yup, LA > all.

I've been to Texas once and I was around 12 so I can't give my full opinion on it. But my sister lived in Austin for a while. She said it's great there, the cost of living is relatively cheap, but she said once you get past the whole Texas University thing, it pretty much sucks. She said she loves Southern Cali a bit more.

Now I think Miami is really a little LA from what I've heard. Fine women, great weather, a lot of hot spots, and all the things I mentioned in my post earlier. I want to visit Miami within the next 2 or 3 years since I've heard so many great things about it. So while I can't say Miami>SoCal, I will say Miami = SoCal AT THE MOST. Too bad you guys get hurricanes and a broken down old Shaq. :biggrin: So therefore SoCal>Miami.

Overall SoCal is probably a cooler place to live. You can't go snowboarding and go the beach in the same day in Miami. That's pretty crazy.

I've never been to SoCal, though. I'm dying to go.

I'm assuming this thread only takes into consideration cities in the US. I've lived out of the US and around the world for a while, and there is no way LA trumps some of those cities.
