I wanna become the best, so every pointer you give me will help
Hello,
I'm a 15 year old, 6"4 player from europe
I've always played at the center posistion and now I dream of playing pro basketbal. Some people believe in me and I've got offers from various youth teams and talent scouts
But I think I'll grow to a maximum height of 6"6 or 6"7but that's not enough to be a center at pro level.
So now i won't to convert myself to a forward/ power forward.
I wanna train alot so every tip or trick you have will be helpful
ps: I can't train to much on jumping exercicses because I quickly get leg injury's
(Didn't know where to post this topic so i'll post it here)

what are your main strengths? are you a shooter? Post up player? how much do you weight?
well honestly speaking since NBA scouts are all looking for "potential" I'd suggest you to hit the gym regular and chisel your body. Improve on your conditioning, and do some squads to strengthen your legs.
As far as b-ball skills are concerned, work on your ball-handling, and just learn from the best man. There's 1000 things you can do to improve your game, but stick to what you're good at and just try to build your game around that.
Best of luck buddy, and gimme a call if you need an agent

im from europe to and i play a small forward and im about 6'5 165
if i where you id work on ure quickness and latteral movment and shoot atleast 200-500 shots daily to get some nice range.
if your a center you proably dont need to gain that many lbs since ure only 15 so just try to work out as much as you can and concetrate on playing a 3/4 postion

You should hit the gyms 5 times a week working your entire body out over the course of the week. As a warm-up, do some aggressive shooting, about 500-1000 shots and after the weight room , to improve quickness, especially when fatigued, I'd do sprints, with and without the ball. The days off, you should run, a good deal. It will give you coordinance, endurance, and help cut any fat you have (about 5miles?). Running also adds flexibility to your knees which will help you jump and not get injured. If you're one of those goofy tall white kids, you should definitely do footwork drills too. Make a hard plan and stick to it is the most important thing though, random training is hurtful, useless, and unmotivating.
PS. there are machines that simulate jumping without pressure on the knees (which I'm assuming is your injury problem). It like a squat with resisting bands that pull you back when you try to jump, it helps build your legs and its soft on the knees because its horizontal or slightly slopped.

@ Yao many, thanks for the reply, but is it good to work on your body while you are still growing?
And i've already met a guy who believes in me and wants to send me to college in the usa. But if this doesn't work out , who do you think I can contact best?
@ Pejavlade, thanks for the reply,

I've heard that doing too much weights as a teen might hurt your growth plates
Just do a lot of shooting and remember to do like 10 FT's after every (tiring) drill

Lifting weights while your still growing will not hurt you, as long as you use proper form. Is there a trainer or someone you know who could put together a workout program for you and show you how to do it?

Work on dribbling drills, shoot 500-1000 shots a day for repetition, increasing the distance after every make and then going back to a designated starting point after every miss. Chart how many you make/miss to see how well you are improving. Run 2-3 miles a day to get in better shape, and lift weights to increase your leg strength and to strengthen your back, and torso. Arms are not really that biggest concern in terms of strength for a basketball player. Work on blocking by putting your arms up and not swinging at the ball. Block like you would in volleyball. I play volleyball, as my main sport now, so this is the point of blocking in volleyball. In volleyball your block is positioned to take away possible court in which the other team can spike it in to make the job easier on the backrow. Well use this to your advantage in basketball. Jump straight up and extend both arms up as far as you can. That will take away as much of the possible place where the shooter can shoot the ball, making it have to be a pretty damn lucky shot to go in. If you can just grab the ball out of the air, and secure possession for the ball. Most players try to swat the ball because it looks cooler but for a majority of shots this is the best way to block. It will not only increase your teams performance, but it will also fill out your stat line quite nicely. Think about it think Travis Outlaw guarding Kobe Bryant on the perimeter. Travis Outlaw can jump out of the gym. Kobe will have the ball at about 10 feet on his jump shot, and Travis Outlaw could easily get 12 feet with extending his arm fully up. That is 2 feet that Outlaw has on Bryant and he should be able to block it, grab the ball, or make Kobe take a shot that has a 1% chance of going in. But instead you would see Outlaw extend his arm forward for the block, or swat at the ball. Work on your footwork in the post. Use your feet, to make effective post moves. And also square up for rebounds. And most important hustle after that ball.
Remember if you try hard enough you can do anything.
Hope that helps.

thx guys, this really helped out, I now already started taking 300 shots a day, and try to build this up to 1000.
For the power training I keep getting negative advice so I'll w8 a year or 2-3 with that.
Do you now any excersises I can do to improve my dribbeling in a small place, about 2m on 2m or 4mē

If you want to be an effective player in any position that involves the post, you have to start weight training RIGHT NOW.

Pistol Pete said that a good ball handler should be able to put the ball around his back 60-70 times in 30 seconds, I can do about 38. Another drill is to put the ball inbetween your legs, holding it with two hands (one from either side of your legs), drop it and switch your hands before the ball can hit the ground, I do 100 a day
