Mayo Signs
Mayo has decided upon USC, signed his letter of intent. He's definitely one and done. Reasons for the choice? New arena, ex-NBA coach, limelight and big city, a team which will be his.

Re: Mayo Signs
He claimed that he did not want to go to a small college town school where all the attention would be on him.
But seriously, where ever this kid goes, eyes will always be on him.

Re: Mayo Signs
He wants to go the Matt Leinart route of celebrity before going pro I see. I expect him to be at every club I hit up starting this summer.

Well to be honest, I don't think he's going to get in until he starts lighting it up at USC. People like us know who OJ Mayo is, but I don't think the fame he has now is going to open doors to clubs that you normally need to be 21 to get into unless you're a celebrity. In fact, I think Mayo might get a little frustrated by not getting the attention he feels he deserves before the season starts.

I don't think you realize how much hype he will have playing for USC next year. You can't know LA until you in the middle of how this town is. He'll be an instant celebrity.

Re: Mayo Signs
Oh come on man, the Lakers are the #1 game in town. It works for football because there's no NFL Franchise in LA, but why does OJ Mayo suddenly become any bigger than Luke Walton even?

Luke Walton is pretty big in this town (well with white folks anyway). He's Bill Walton's kid. It doesn't matter if the Lakers are #1 in town. What matters is who the person is. Even Cuttino Mobley is banging Persian models.

Poor Francis, Mobley's moved on to better things.
As for Mayo, I think he wants the LeBron treatment. Big coverage, a celebrity before he plays a single NBA game. I'm not sure if it'll happen in LA in one college season. College football player's are around for 3+ years. LeBron was at the same HS for 4+ years. Mayo's trying to do it in 1. He didn't reach celebrity status in HS, and unless he wins the national championship, or makes a push for it, I can't imagine it happening at USC no matter how many spotlights are there to be had. Carmelo became a celebrity after winning with Syracuse, Oden, probably a better HS prospect than Mayo, is hardly a household name. LeBron was a household name while in HS, Mayo isn't. I believe that's what Mayo wants to achieve at USC. Not sure if he will.
The ex-NBA coach and new arena don't hurt. But this moves all about future opportunities for endorsements and money in the long run.
