Turning into one of the premier events every spring. I think the Atlanta Celtics are going to be a possible winner. if the Family from Detroit shows up they will give teams a run for their money due to their size.

King James Day 1 (Friday)
Quote:
There were four Big Ten commitments in the game (Diamond Taylor, Wisconsin; Joseph Bertrand, Illinois; Derrick Nix, Michigan State; Alex Marcotullio, Northwestern) and a number of targets for schools within the conference.
Taylor did a fine job of breaking his man down with the dribble and shining as a passer. He worked hard to find Derrick Tartt, a 6-foot-3 prep school bound senior. Tartt had the hot hand in the second half, scoring double digit points in the second half blowout.

Here's a little blurb about Jamil Wilson...

Michigan State, Indiana and Purdue recently watched him but lots of others in the mix. Here’s an interesting note: he mentions Duke but said he’s never spoken to Coach K

I heard several schools had sort of stayed away only because it looked like a lock for him to stay in state. Is that correct?

Thats what I have been hearing. If he does leave the state he will remain in big ten country.

Re: King James Classic '08
Some observations:
-Rakeem Buckles will be a 4* prospect in the next rankings IMO. He has played well in every tournament he has participated in so far and has done a terrific job of improving himself.
-The Family is so poorly coached. They have one of the biggest and most physical teams on the circuit and they should have some very good, quick, gritty guards from Detroit. They should be winning a lot more than they are. Also to note Da'Shonte Riley is mad overrated. He needs a ton of skill development.
-Withersponn to Memphis? Anyone else think this is inevitable?

What's going on here? I can't find him in the Scout recruiting database. Rivals says his last name is Weatherspoon. JD Weatherspoon - that's who you're talking about, isnt' it? I clicked on his Rivals page and Memphis isn't listed. Are they interested, or is that just your opinion = the kind of pure athlete that Calipari likes?
King James Day 2 (Saturday)

Anchoring the other side of the blocks was bouncy 6-foot-7 forward J.D. Weatherspoon. He was one of the more intriguing players in the 16 and under division. Known primarily as a pure athlete in local circles, Weatherspoon showed more than just being a play above the rim guy. He hit three three-pointers as a pop out post man. He's super intriguing and it's easy to see why West Virginia, Miami, Akron (offer), James Madison (offer), Wisconsin and Xavier are involved early.

Looks like all the top dogs got upset and are now watching during Day 3. That stinks.
You heard anything else?
Telep said Plumlee was solid. That's always good news to my ears.

Illinois is going to have some goo guards in a few years, it's just a matter of who will be coaching them.

Re: King James Classic '08
Riley has been very dissappointing thus far in the spring. He needs an attitude adjustment or he will be lucky to ever do anything of note on the D1 level.
