The followup to I'm Serious & Trap Muzik, Urban Legend was Tip's most commercial successful album at the time and the album that propelled him into one of hip-hop's brightest stars with multiple radio hits. But "Urban Legend" goes deeper than that. While, it's concept is not as blatant & obvious as it was in "I'm Serious" and "Trap Muzik", it's still there.
One of the lyrical highlights of the album is "Prayin For Help".
Find a heart and the time to say, only so many are blessed
With so many chances, and so many checks, so many fans
With so many arrest, and it's been so many deaths
So many prisons with *****z in there
And the system keep playin' them to the left, man it's so many tests
So many haters love seeing you stess, but tribulations come with being the best
Still it's so many reflects, singin' by text, when they bringin' the????
Sellin' dreams never seem to jex, that's why I'm seeing some threats
So many stripes off the streets I'ma vet, so many rappers get so little respect
Now *****z faith on the shelf, 'cause of the cards that a ***** was dealt
Or the heart that a ***** then dealt, so many *****z done left outta the hood
Made a way for themself, instead of givin' back, they stay for they self
So many playin' they self, instead of readin', educating they self
The ones who won't even pray for they self, they got me prayin' for help.
The album's faults lie in it's filler material (particularly in the end), too many guest spots, and too many club tracks (too many sound the same). When I listened to this album when it came out, I was disappointed. After hearing Trap Muzik, it didn't live up. But re-visiting this album, it's better then I originally thought and has enough redeeming qualities for replay value.
My favorite tracks: Freak Through, Prayin For Help, Motivation
The album starts off right. But by the time you feel like you've heard the same song 3 times (Get Loose, What They Do, The Greatest), then you know it's starting to drop off. But T.I. is one of my favorite artists out there, so I know I'm biased.
I would grade this album out at an 8.0/10.0. I've heard people call King his best album. I've heard people call Urban Legend his best album. I've heard people call Trap Muzik his best album. And I've heard people call I'm Serious his best album. His catalog is pretty strong, and it's hard to pick one. This is a good album, but I'm not so sure if this isn't his worst of the 4 albums. Not a knock on Urban Legend, but I like the others better. But this is still good! lol, check it out.
What do you guys prefer the most out of his four albums thus far?

Trap Muzik, no question.
I'm Serious is real slept on. It's a solid album, just doesn't match up to Trap Muzik. Trap Muzik has no filler, unlike his other albums. If you've never listened to Trap Muzik in it's enitrety (sp?), then do yourself a favor and buy it or d/l it. If you don't like that alubm, then I don't think you'll ever be a TI fan.
I think the albums go like this:
1. Trap Muzik
2a. I'm Serious
2b. Urban Legend
4. King
King is overrated and underrated at the same time. It's not a great album, but it doesn't suck either. I just think it has the most filler of all his albums. Definitely dissapointing, but I had really high expectations. I liked it a lot at first, then I kind of got sick of it, now I'm realizing that it's not a bad album. A lot of peeps think it's his best work, and that's bull ****. A lot of peeps think it sucks, and that's bull **** as well. Bull **** IMO of course.
Yeah, Trap Muzik is his best. Urban Legend has the most filler material of any of his albums, though. Much much more than King. I haven't listened to I'm Serious in a long time. But I rate King over Urban Legend.
