OutKast - Stankonia
Well.. I think everyone already has heard this album many times. But I'll share some of my thoughts on this record anyways.....
IMO, this is Outkast's weirdest album. But it's still dope, regardless of what you heard. This album is on that next level. It's like the album is divided into different parts of 3 songs, seperated by funky interludes, and then onto more songs. It's got seven interludes on here, but the way that it's done, it doesn't really take away from the record.
I don't know. Some people say this album is crap, but I liked it. And I still do. It had three mega radio hits. And the album went quadruple platinum, I think most people liked this. I don't know. It's a fun album to listen to.
With Stankonia, peoople have tried to say OutKast was trying too hard to be George Clinton or Prince or whatever. But to me, it sounded sincere and not trying to rip anyone's sound. You can't really limit the sound of this album, because it's everywhere. The first track "Gasoline Dreams" begins with a heavy electric guitar riff, and throughout the album it incorporates sounds of soul, funk, and hip-hop.
All the songs on this album are produced either by OutKast themselves, or by ONP (Organized Noise Production). The beats are fresh, and all different sounding. Sometimes on rap albums, beats may seem repetitive or what not. But the production's all good.
I don't know if there were any tracks I didn't like. All the songs just seemed to fit in place.
Well, I just wanted to make this post cause I really just wanted to know where most people rank this album with their others?
