CLEVELAND -- Cleveland State basketball coach Mike Garland has dismissed scoring leader Modibo Niakate (moh-DEE'-boh nee-ah-KAH'-tee) from the team for a violation of team rules on Friday.

Details of the violation were not disclosed Friday.

The 6-2 senior guard averaged nearly 12 points a game last season after transferring from Hutchinson Community College.
