Great gesture by NBA players

Quote:
Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Jermaine O'Neal and four other NBA players have promised to donate $1,000 for every point they score in a game later this week to help victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami.

Bob Sura of the Houston Rockets, Jalen Rose of the Toronto Raptors, and Pau Gasol and Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzlies also are taking part in the $1,000-per-point donations, which will be made to UNICEF.

Bryant, McGrady, Miller and Gasol will base the size of their donations on the number of points they score in Thursday night's games, and O'Neal, Sura and Rose will donate $1,000 for each point they score Friday night.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1959163

The article is dated 4th Jan and refers to games this week!! However we don't have a game on Thursday night??? Do they mean Friday night's game vs Lakers? Imagine that, a shootout between Kobe and T-Mac for the tsunami victims!!!

For the sake of those affected by the tsunami, go for 60+ points T-Mac and victory for Rox!!

I reckon Yao Ming should donate $1000 for every turnover he commits!! That should jack up the donation a fair bit!

So Jermaine O'Neal will be donating 55,000 dollars to Unicef?

From his performance today, bob sura doesn't seem to care much about the tsunami victims.

On the same subject to the players donating money per points in Australia last night they played a Asia XI v Rest of World XI Tsunami Appeal Cricket Match.

All in all through major sponsors of the event and gate takings and donations on the day the helped raise 14.6 Million dollars to go to World Vision, In 1 day that is absolutely Phenomenal

That's right, watched it on TV last night, since it was sold out at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). $14.6 million aussie dollars is hell of a lot, with more to come as the players (22 in total) of both teams will auction off their uniforms for more money.

That's in addition to the $20million??? donated by the concert a few days ago.... which I missed.

A lot of generous people out there.... something I'm sure the NBA can outdo if they want.
