Do You regret trading Mike James for Rafer Alston? Y/N

On insidehoops.com there apparently is a battle between the Griz and Raptors over Mike James, because of the injury to Damon Stoudamire. The cost to the Griz would be Shane Battier, (no way I'd make that deal Jerry W). They already have Bobby Jackson????

James is setting himself to be a prime free agent signing for someone in the off-season. IMO I think ultimatley we did the 'right thing' in getting a better passing pg for our team. I like Mike but only as a guy coming off my bench. He's a small 2 guard IMO, does'nt think pass first, even with 2 Hall of Famers on the court.
I like Rafer much better, as we have seen he can put up 18pts too, but with 8 assists. I'd rather have the guy with 10 and 10 and 5, than 24pts, 1assist, 3rbs. If I was starting a franchise yeah, I'd start with a Mike James or Steve Francis, but the work would have to continue. Glad for MJ he's gonna 'cash in' on his jv-style mighty mouse type play, but I doubt a contender will take him and make him a starter. The Pistons and Rockets both had him coming off the bench for a reason, he's selfish and not as good as Marbury or Francis, case closed.

Easy... No.

Rafer is a good player signed for little money through a few years. Mike James is a bum, will suck on a good team, and wants to get paid next year.

Agreed. Not to mention Rafer has looked pretty good finding the open man after penetration. And remember, quite a few inside sources say it was McGrady who was having difficulties with James on the court.

Nope, and I love Mike James. He just wasn't a good fit here, and it's not like he would have made that much a difference to how bad we're sucking right now. I'm glad he's doing well in TO and he does deserve to get paid.

I dunno why the rest of you hate him so much though...

this is basically how I feel...except for the "love" part. But Mania is a lil more emotional than I am

All I know is that once the team found out that Sura would at least miss the first 40+ games of the season they basically had a heartattack and rushed to bring a real PG. He's perfect as a backup but isn't starter material...he isn't the starting PG for toronto.

Bill Walton once said Rasho was a better interior defender than Tim Duncan because Tim Duncan was on the bench at the time. Barkley once said Argentina was located north of the Indian ocean.

Agree with everyone else. NO! Rafer gives you everything Mike does and more. He is just noticed more because he is one of the "Go To" guys in Toronto. Think about that. Mike James as your "Go To" guy not TMac, not Kobe, not Wade.

Re: Do You regret trading Mike James for Rafer Alston? Y/N

no, rafer is a true pg who can handle the ball and run the offense good, while james is a sg in a pg body. he cant run the offense, but is a good spark off the bench cause hes quick

james could have been good for this team if we anticipated all the injuries. alston will be better for the entire team and going with the offense. james isnt a starter, he just isnt. he is a very good 6th man though. a 6th man is important, but i would rather have a starting pg to go with yao and tmac. its not hatin, i said the same thing when he was hear last year, when he left, when alston got injured, when james had a good month, etc. his scoring is misssed with injuries, but a healthy rockets would rather have alston.
