JVG speaks
Here's an excerpt from the ESPN intel report on JVG and the Rockets.
Quote:
Van Gundy Longs For Elusive Spark
Once Jeff Van Gundy started to talk, the words poured out. Words of anger, words of frustration and words of resignation. There were things he'd said before and things he'd wanted to say for a while. There were things the coach hopes his Rockets players hear and things he wants the world to know. ''It turns my stomach," he said. ''Frustration is not the right word. It's much stronger than that." And? ''It's really hard to watch and be part of this. It was just passionless. It's the personality of our team." -- Houston Chronicle

Re: JVG speaks
i'll tell the guy this much, its not ryan bowen.
and heres a thought, maybe chuck hayes, the guy who provided us energy and rebounding could be that guy.
heres another thought, maybe a NEW COACH could be that guy.

Re: JVG speaks
I haven't been one to jump up against JVG, (you should hear me rant on about Van Chanceller, though), but it is way too obvious that he is not the right guy to direct this team. I don't sense a mutiny within the ranks, like some players that just stop playing for a coach.
There is too much talent on this team for them to be in this situation, it seems to me.

Re: JVG speaks
Let me go straight forward.
His finger pointed to McGrady. Like KG, this guy has nothing to respect in term of personality -- "basic instinct"
I don't respect the players with great skills, but lack of "basic instinct"
BUT YES, GET RID OF JVG.

I know plenty of old timers and HOFer's that claimed defense in the late 90's and early 2000's weren't as good as the 80's. Wilt once said he'd average 70 ppg in the modern-day NBA because defenses were so much worse. Pippen once said KG was a stats guy who disappears down the stretch of games. Bill Walton once said Rasho was a better interior defender than Tim Duncan because Tim Duncan was on the bench at the time. Barkley once said Argentina was located north of the Indian ocean.

Intangibles
in*tan*gi*bles (greek meaning: plays hard every night) - 1. word used to describe marginally talented and productive basketball players. 2. Last resort when explaining the "value" of said marginally talented and productive player. 3. Shane Battier
Love the Marc Jackson-Jeff Van Gundy combo...
"I've played with guys like Rodmonavic; good enough to keep both teams in the game."~ Jackson during gm 5 commenting as Rodmonavic scores at one end and gives up another layup.

Re: JVG speaks
What an *******? This dude is trying to tank his own stallion? What sense does that make? The guy is too hurt to help, that's not his fault that you can't put together a team around him/yao to be effective? That's your fault GUMBY. Man do I miss Rudy.... he could put guys around Yao Rafer and TMac to win 40+ games.... My heart is sick for Tracy, he and Yao and Rafer are doing what they can do, its just not enough....

Re: JVG speaks
JVG is the king of morbidness. I don't know what it was in New York that made him successful. JVG just had some hard prideful players on his New York teams. I don't want to jump on the Spree train but, I like the fact that Spree thinks he is so much better than he is. He ain't worth 3.5 mil a year but, he has the heart and desire to win. We need some hard players on this team. Luther is a hard player that

Re: JVG speaks
If you read ESPN's article about the game, Tracy says that he is not physically hurt... just playing terribly. This is good news... but not. Tracy better step it up next game.
