I gotta say Amare reminds me alot of Hakeem.

He isnt as fast or as powerful just yet and playing in such a high scoring team bolsters his stats alot. But he reminds me of Hakeem.

Well, if you are one of the best players ever played in the league chances are people are will try to play as you did. i.e. Jordan.

Anyway, Amare would be scary if he can master on jump shots (hooks) , free throws and passing.

He shows flashes, but Hakeem was the Rockets for a big majority of his career...Amare has alot of talent around him from start

The only way Amare reminds me of Hakeem his his athletisicm. Thats about it.

He has no range, has no strong post presence, not a good passer, cant create his own shot, and does not play a lick of defense.

He is a great pass to, dunk kinda player.

I don't know if he can ever master what (Akeem) did from his childhood (soccer, handball) to develop that coordination.

Hakeem and Amare are not comparable! Amare can't get triple doubles playing center! Or even almost a quadruple double.

Amare has 3pt range... and he is money with the J inside the arc. Cant create his own shot? ROFL

No strong post presence. God do you watch Phoenix AT ALL? He is pretty good passer too, if you dont get assists it doesnt mean you are a bad passer, its not his role, the plays dont really allow him to rack up assists either. And his defense has been more than solid this season, it's getting quite some praise nowadays.

Hakeem comparisions were pretty common in his rookie season, heck I even think Rudy T made it.

The big difference is the D. Hakeem is one of the best defenders of all time. Amare... more on the other spectrum. But Amare's still young, lets see what he can do.

You know what, let's get David Robinson on the Phone...I'm sure he will have something to say about this.

He will have to get away from all that talent & carry a franchise bascially on his back for me to see anything close to Hakeem.

Right now, no. He isnt. Not even in 04 were they the same. The only thing I see them sharing is early athleticism, thats it

-No his shooting is nowhere near Hakeems. never will be, EVER.
-His post presence isn’t anywhere near Hakeems, and NEVER will be. Sorry
-Defense? Ha not even going into that.
-His ability to create his own shot is nowhere near Hakeems.
-His ability to take complete control and dominate both ends of the floor night in and night out both in the season and post season will never be like Hakeems
-His passing ability is far inferior as Hakeem was able to pass out of double and triple, teams coverage without hesitation

The only thing Amare has that reminds me of Hakeem is his athleticism. Thats it. 80's Hakeem = 04 Amare.
