From Dime Mag
Quote:

3. Houston Rockets – When Yao gets back, he and Mutombo will be the nastiest 1-2 center combo in the League. And, yes, that includes Shaq and Mourning. When you think about it, this team is built a lot like last year’s Heat squad, even down to the purist’s nightmares (J-Will, Rafer) running the point.
|
I gotta say the one two punch is looking so tempting Yao & Deke will put a smile on the face of so many supporters.
Plus Deke only needs to fill in for 18 minutes a game maximum.

Deke must work the 3rd quarter. Rest Yao for the third, so he can pull the 4th. We can even beat Dallas and Phoenix like this.

Re: ESPN Daily Power Rankings have Houston #3
1. Dallas Mavericks (39-9, Last ranking: 2) – How deep are the Mavs? Austin Croshere was an afterthought for most of the season, but with Josh Howard out of the Seattle game, Croshere stepped in and went for 34 points.
2. Phoenix Suns (37-10, Last ranking: 1) – The Suns beat San Antonio for a big win last week, but they still can't figure out Utah. The loss to the Jazz was the third this season for Phoenix.
3. San Antonio Spurs (32-16, Last ranking: 3) – "Too old." "Too slow." "Too methodical." The Spurs have heard it all. But they're healthy and experienced, and no one will want to play them in May.
4. Utah Jazz (31-17, Last ranking: 6) – Pretty impressive week for the Jazz, who beat both the Spurs and Suns without Carlos Boozer. But they'll have to deal with Boozer's absence for another month or so, and that won't be easy.
5. Houston Rockets (29-17, Last ranking: 5) – Luther Head has become a solid sixth man for the Rockets. He's averaging 11.3 points a game and shooting 43.9 percent from the three-point line.
6. Detroit Pistons (28-18, Last ranking: 7) – The Pistons capped off a 3-1 week with an impressive win in Cleveland. They look like the class of the East at this point in the season.
7. Los Angeles Lakers (29-19, Last ranking: 8) – Halfway through their eight-game road swing, the Lakers are 2-2 with a big win in Washington. A couple more victories on the trip will make it a successful one.
8. Washington Wizards (27-19, Last ranking: 4) – With Miami beginning to get rolling, the Wizards need to keep a hold on first place in the Southwest by getting back on track this week. Three home games should make that a bit easier.
9. Chicago Bulls (28-20, Last ranking: 9) – The fact that no Bull made the East All-Star team epitomizes the type of club Chicago is: no stars but tough, defensive-minded and scrappy.
10. Indiana Pacers (26-21, Last ranking: 13) – A six-game home stand will help the Pacers continue to roll.

4. Houston Rockets – Five wins in their last six, and their lone loss in the stretch came when Rafer Alston’s early ejection forced Houston’s backups into guarding Chris Paul most of the game.

Re: ESPN Daily Power Rankings have Houston #3
I love how those rankings dont take into account injuries makes me more excited. Yao is the best player out right now.

4. Houston Rockets — Why is no one talking about T-Mac for MVP? He’s putting up 24 ppg, 5 rpg and 6 apg and, without Yao for a long stretch, has kept the Rockets among the League’s upper echelon with a supporting cast that includes guys like Rafer Alston, Dikembe Mutombo and Juwan Howard, who aren’t even locks to start on a few other NBA teams.
