Was this really the time to dump salary?
Us being in the middle of a strong playoff push, good developed chemistry, and on such a great roll?
I never knew Les as a cheap owner, but the way we are playing why make a move like this? We were not that badly over the tax line.
I guess getting out of James's contract is a positive...

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
We only lost one guy from the rotation. Head is coming back and BJax should be a better backup PG than Brooks. They should match Bonzi's production.
Morey said in an interview he didn't see us winning the title with what we had, so maybe he's trying to gain some flexibility for the next offseason.

I feel bad for Houston. They needed to pull off another move badly.

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
Dnag I thought we could win the title frankly.............
James is not a good contract but I am sad to see Bonzi go............
Bonzi will get significant minutes with the Hornets.

I agree. We did not have a chance. The West has changed for the best lately. We probably had a chance to get pass the first round but that's it. Maybe we can get a good back up for Yao in the offseason. Hopefully we can make a push next year.

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
Nice to hear that from Morey *sarcasm*
Only team i see as a threat in the west is the Lakers, and still, who knows what can happen in a 7 game series.
Dallas and Phoenix both took a step back I think. Kidd looked sloppy in his debut, and plus, who is going to guard Yao now?
Phoenix has Shaq so now they run alot slower pace that we can actually keep up at.
What would I know though..

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
But we gave up a major rotation player who posed matchup nightmares for other teams. In return we got a washed up 35 year old point guard who can barely play 50+ games a season.

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
I hate this trade. Getting Green was good. Very good, IMO. But getting rid of Bonzi is a very big mistake that can hurt us this upcoming playoffs.
I wish Bonzi is brought out by the Hornets and sign with us in 30 days or something...., why would they do that though.

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
I hated this trade too at first, but seeing how Landry did playing some of Bonzi's minutes tonight, I gotta say losing Bonzi won't hurt us as much as I thought it would. I'm not a fan of BJax or Green but I do believe they can thrive under Adelman and this team.
The important thing is not about what pieces we're bringing in, but how our current pieces will play. Yao needs to dominate, T-Mac needs to play at a higher level, and everyone else needs to bring their A game against our rivals in the West. On paper, we're not looking as strong as say the Laker and Suns... but its not about the names, its about the team.

yeah, we aren't the favorite this year to win it all this year anyways but we do have the $6 mil expiring contract of Bobby Jackson we can use next year, so thats good and we can still sign someone this year that is going to be bought out by another team like Brent Barry.
my question now is who could we get with the expireing contract that we have next year? so many teams this year seek those contracts so whats going to happen next for us then?

I didn't watch the game. Did Landry play SF?

Re: Was this really the time to dump salary?
Landry didn't play SF but he played more minutes that Bonzi was taking as the 4. At one point Novak, Scola and Landry were all three on the floor together, where Steve was getting the minutes at the 3.
Losing Bonzi isn't as big a deal as everyone may think as far as quality personnel you can put on the floor. I don't know if it will effect chemistry but I am hoping that they won't struggle with it.
