Semi-OT: Rockets/Mavs comparison
People on ESPN keep making the comparison between Yao going down and Dirk going down, but I just don't see it. For whatever reason, they are ignoring that the Rockets as a team were rolling before Yao went down while the Mavs have been struggling lately, even with Dirk in the line up.

There are a lot of similarities I can think of. They are both arguably the best players on their team. They are both big men and their teams are both trying to stay in the playoffs.

I hear this from a co-worker, I'll say Yao - freethrow shooting is dropping without him & he hardly ever misses those. I don't trust Dirk in the playoffs......

Yao and Dirk are very, very, very different players and their respective teams were in a very, very, very different place when they went down.
But they are both tall, I'll give you that...

They're both All-Stars and both got seriously injured as their teams were making a push for the playoffs.

Re: Semi-OT: Rockets/Mavs comparison
They're both all stars, they were both viewed as their number one options on their team when they both went out. They are both 7 foot tall.
When both were injured their teams were in the bottom half of the 8. (from memory i think we were at 7th when Yao went down but dopnt quote me on that)

mavs weren't really making a push for the playoffs. more like trying to hold onto a playoff spot.
